I bet you have heard the title or similar ones over a dozen times if not more so why is it relevant ?
Check the crypto news about a hack that is hot out of the oven
"Hacker Steals Bill Murray’s Crypto After $185K NFT Charity Auction

Hours after the closing of Bill Murray’s NFT auction that raised 119.2 ETH (around $185,000) for charity Thursday, a hacker stole the funds.
The hacker started to drain Murray’s personal wallet at around 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, according to on-chain data from Etherscan and details from Murray’s team. The unknown individual also attempted to take non-fungible tokens from the actor’s personal collection.source:coindesk

The high-profile hack showcases how even well-known celebrities can fall victim to crypto hackers and thieves. In Bill Murray’s case, though, the actor had the benefit of a wallet security team " This news comes from coindesk

Big celebrities have big teams to look after their funds and yet there can costly mistakes and losses that are huge and hit the headlines.
So what about us simple folks in the crypto space?
Is there something that we can do to safeguard our funds and NFTS?
Here is a list of simple to do things.

1 Do not click on links from unknown senders

This can never be emphasized enough every time you click on a link you are at risk of losing your privacy as a lot of your info can be tracked and you are also at risk of losing your crypto
So do not click on links in emails from unknown senders.
At times the emails you receive are discuised as coming from well nown brands like Amazon, ebay, Paypal, Metamask etc

2. Use multiple browsers

Use different browsers for browsing and carrying out crypto transactions.
A lot of crypto wallets have web extensions so we can have our crypto wallets as web extensions.
What this means is in case we have our crypto wallet on the same browser that we use for browsing and checking emails we are putting our crypto assets at risk.
Hackers can use malicious scrips and sites to steal our data and hijack our sessions to steal our funds.

Do not post your wallet address on twitter ,telegram and other social media sites.

This is often the case when we are asking for help or taking part in an NFT

3 Use more than one wallet

Keep separate wallets for receiving airdrops, participating in IDO's from the wallet that is holding the chunk of your funds.

4 Beware of people posing as customer support

A lot of times we need support for a particular crypto project and the moment we post a query we may get a dm from a scammer posing as support.
Remember genuine support people never DM you first.

5 Disable the option on discord that anyone can send you a dm

disable dm-giphy.gif

6 Keeps funds secure by storing them on a hardware wallet.

This is by far the best think one can do to keep the funds secure .
If you are serious about crypto and building a safe crypto fortune then a hardware wallet is a priceless investment that would pay you handsomely in terms of security of crypto assets and peace of mind.

Very true it is a super easy think to do we know it yet we do it. I wish we are more careful.

Yes it is possible to connect a hardware wallet with metamask and it adds that added layer of security.

hello @thetimetravelerz,
they are excellent tips, very easy to apply, personally my recommendation is that you should always use common sense to avoid falling into scams. in venezuela they say that "when something is too good to be true, be careful because it is a scam".

Hi
Thanks for sharing your views :)
You are bang on nothing replace good old common sense.

Thanks for the support

I have a query, its ok we share our public wallet address right...even in social media...?... how can giving our public wallet address make us vulnerable to hackers?

Oh what really happens is that if you are posting your public key the scammers usually use web scraping to extract data and email etc.
From the wallet they know what crypto tokens and net wealth you own so they can fine tune their attack via fishing or other dubious schemes.
A simple tip is to add more that one wallet for airdrops etc which has nothing more than a bit of gas fee.
Also no point letting the world know how many BTC you hold ;)
Let us keep that info private . You never know who is watching I hope you get the hint

greetings @thetimetravelerz _
