Target the right audience while promoting your business

Sometimes I keep wondering how some individuals think. While this topic runs through my blood I was able to see while big companies keeps doing far better than small companies. Many small companies don't know what marketing is and how to run it. Some knows how to run it but still yet overlooks it because they thinks it will cost them money. The big companies chest this expenses and they don't reason if they won't make profit from it, all they knows is that it will expose their business to the world and that will bring more investors to patronize them. This surely works but it might not just be instant.

The big companies knows that when it comes to business there is always a target audience, knowing this fully well will help to sharpen your business into the appropriate position. Take for instant, if you are to set up your business in a locality, you should first of all study the locality to see if your business will be welcomed there. Once you see that your business will scale in such locality then you can shoot your shot by running it there. After doing that, the next thing to consider is to promote your business.

Promoting your business can be in any way i.e you can use any medium that you deem fit by you. We have different medium which you can use to target your audience, they include; newspaper, tv, radio, internet and complementary card etc. Just like as I said it is left for you to make the choice, you are free to make use of all if you want it that way.

After going with the medium you deem fit for your business advertisement, it is now left for you to make sure you are targeting your customers. Take for instance if you are selling cement, you should target people who are building houses, they surely needs cement so there is every tendency they will patronize you. What about safety gadgets? You should target hotels, car owners, companies, homes etc. The essence of targeting them is because it is compulsory to own an extinguisher in the places I mentioned above. This is the reason they will surely patronize you.

Since business is all about profit making, promoting it to the right channel is important. If you advertise your business you will see that a lot of people from different locality will patronize you and this will take your business to global stage. If you don't promote it there is every tendency that your business will be limited i.e it will be the people who knows about it in that locality that might patronize you. Since profit making is the goal of every business and with you limiting your business to just the local environment, the profit making aspect won't be achieved. This is why you need to spend when it comes to your business. This is because it will expose your business to more ears. Remember the popular saying that says that you spend to get. Once you throw money around through advertisement and targeting of audience, people's attention will be directed to you and your business, then you will make more gains along the line.

Take Network communication business as a case study, let us take Mtn, Glo, Airtel etc as an example. Did you observe what they always do? they will spend money by making an endorsement deal with an artist and along the line, they will use the artist to advertise their product. That is why you will see their advert everywhere with those artist. This will help to see the business doing more better because people's attention will be captured as they take a look at the artist. By so doing, many will trust the business and key into it. With this you have used money to make money. This is the reason it is advisable to target your audience so that your business can witness faster growth.

Conclusion

When you target your audience and you are able to get their attention, you will see your business doing well as you will be swimming in gains. But if you choose not to target your audience, there is nothing wrong with it but just prepare for the outcome which might not be good. Remember the popular saying which states that you spend money to get money, this is how business works.

You are right, the big companies are still growing compared to the small ones.

And one of the things you mention has a lot to do with marketing, and the treatment that these small companies should have.

And the worst thing and it seems even illogical is that small companies have more contact with the general public, but by not knowing how to handle this situation, they are at a disadvantage against large companies.

Business owners really have to understand their type of audience, having a specific target audience in mind will result in a better marketing skill and make the feed back more impressive.

Greetings @tfame3865, certainly from my point of view marketing our business is not an expense but an investment because sooner or later this strategy will return the money you invested when you capture the desired audience, and it is very important to know what business I'm going to start and in what location for this I must conduct a small market study to see if the product will be accepted or not.
