Stop-loss is always a tricky thing. As the market has evolved and many bots are in play these days. There are continuous stop-loss hunting by the bots in tandem, which means the price may not necessarily go down or up, but may play in a range.
That said, your stop-loss should conform to your leading and lagging indicators combining with price action. So mastering a stop-loss position is an art and that takes a lot of experience to master this art.

I have used stop-loss most of the times but it has worked very nicely for me. But if there is more to it, I'll be happy to learn.
