The first point is to expressly define your goals and vision for the business. When there is no goal, the willingness to pursue after a thing might be nonexistent. It is the definition of what you want from the business that will enable you to put in extra effort to see it work. Remember that it is a business, not a mere hobby, and as such, you need to know what you expect from the business. Have a projection of where you want the business to be within a particular time frame - both financially and in other aspects. This will help you to stay on the right course.

After you have defined your goal for the business, the next point is to understand your targeted market and your potential customers. You have to know that not everyone will be your potential customer, so know who you are targeting for your business. This will help you to tailor your marketing activities towards that particular audience. This also means that you will create a niche for your business and know your specific audience. Shooting with an aim will make you to hit the target than throwing the shots sporadically without an aim. While you are also researching about your targeted market, also ask yourself if you can met their demands.

When you have considered your targeted market, then you have to invest into marketing your business. No matter how good your business is, it may not make the required waves until it is marketed. Of course, your products and services will not sell themselves, so you will need to take marketing very seriously. You will be surprised that the reason why some businesses do not see the light of the day is not because they are not good but because of lack of marketing. Good a thing, in this era, there are lots of channels to advertise your business both online and offline, so you can take advantage of the one that suits you most, putting into consideration the kind of customers you are targeting.

In addition to marketing, you have to also take customer satisfaction seriously. A customer you satisfy can open your business to a whole new level of customer-base, but a dissatisfied customer can give the opposite of that. Every business venture has to take customers seriously because they are the live wire to success. After all, they are the ones to bring in the money you need in exchange for goods and services. You have to try as much as is within your ability to retain the old customers that you have as much as you are getting new ones. You can get some suggestions and feedbacks from the customers on how to improve on your products and how to serve them well. This will go a long way to know what they want and how to give it to them.

The next point is to have and build a strong team. The stronger your team, the more chances your business will survive through thick and thin. This is because each one will come with their own wealth of experience to to advance the organisation. This is why it is always advisable to employ people that are capable and able to undertake their tasks effectively, not on sentiments or on the basis of friendship. You have to learn to separate friendships and relationships from your business if you want it to stand. Weirdly enough, some of your friends may not even be your major customers, some may even be unwilling to pay for it on the grounds of friendship, so you have to raise a team that know what it means to grow a business. The success of a business is also dependent on the people who work for the business.
