Expenses on OTT subscriptions

The world is moving towards digitization which means we can access information on the go using certain devices. This is good for us because now accessing information on the go is very easy and we only required a device connected to the Internet. The Internet has become one of the important parts of our life and it is not just limited to certain categories instead almost everything is available on the Internet. We can buy a bunch of things using the Internet from online shopping platforms and it is very convenient. It helps us save time because, within a few taps, we can order whatever we want by making the payment online. Overall it is good for us because through technology we are entering an era where most things will be operated by high-end technology solutions that also include artificial intelligence.

Entertainment has gone digital

After the pandemic, we have seen a significant improvement on the entertainment side because people were at home and this was much needed for them to stay engaged. It was a tough time for all of us but because of these platforms we were able to deal with the situations and got entertained during this tough time. Earlier we used to have very limited platforms offering entertainment content and Netflix was the leader but now there are so many options available to us that we can choose from. This is one of the additional expenses for us that most of us are doing which is like a necessity for us.

Now using our mobile phones we can access the world of entertainment and the only requirement is to have a subscription to the platform. The majority of the platforms are available through the subscription model so it is like an additional expense for us because opting for a single subscription is not helping here. For example, if you are looking for some content that is available on Netflix then you will have to go for the subscription plan and if something is not available there and available on Amazon Prime Video then another subscription is required.

Expense of entertainment

This is a very good revenue source for those companies as they are getting on the subscription model. This is a form of recurring revenue through which they continue to earn unless the user is available on their platform and that is what goes in favor of these companies. For the majority of people, it is not possible to get subscriptions for all the platforms hence most of us just try to go for some of the portals that we think have got good content for us. Netflix is quite expensive and charges every month other than these majority of the companies are offering an annual plan which is comparatively available at a better price.

India also we have so many companies operating in this segment and even there is a telecom provider called Jio that has got an online entertainment platform called Jio Cinema. this was free for the users using their SIM card but now they are moving towards the revenue model and they have launched their subscription. Although it is available for free that will be coming with the advertisement so if 1 is looking for content without advertisement then it is mandatory to go for the paid plan and this is the strategy the companies trying to make more money out of it.

I think the OTT platforms are a necessity for us because we ultimately need the content for entertainment and now most of us have certain subscriptions in place that we used to watch such content. it's been more than three years since I did recharge my satellite TV setup box and now since I get this option through the broadband so it is not required anymore. Even My Internet service provider offers some packs in which I can get certain OTT subscriptions but it is not enough hence I will have to spend on this if I want more content to watch for the entertainment. what are your thoughts about the OTT and do you also use sum up the subscription to watch the online entertainment content?
