What Kind of Followers You want ?

We work on a social media platform and here the first thing that everyone wants to see is the number of followers. Be if Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Steemit, etc.
This is a number that shows how much is the value of the account because when we spend more time with the community then we earn more followers. I have about to complete 2 years on this platform but my followers are only approx 200 so it's like in one year I got just 100 followers. I know that this is a very small number and here I can see some people who keep on running contests and maybe because of those reasons they have followers in thousands.
I have a Twitter account also and there my follower is just slightly more than 100 (128 to be precise). I see a dozen of tweets every day where people are doing giveaways with some conditions and rules. The first rule is give them a follow and I rarely see any tweet that is for giveaway without any follow. Not sure how much such tweets are genuine and to be honest I never got any giveaway but have the curiosity to know how this following thing works.
It certainly looks good if one has thousands of followers but on a blockchain platform, if these followers are engaging then I don't think that it's of any use. I see many authors over here who are sharing their content but I hardly see any comment on the posts but their followers are in thousands.
There is a ting like the fake following but it works only on Twitter or Facebook and for sure not here on this blockchain platform. So if I have just 200 followers and I get a couple of engaging comments on my posts then it's better than having thousands of followers with zero engagement.
I would like to know what you guys think about it. Please share your opinion.

It is necessary to know what type of followers or business you have to focus on it and be more successful.

I believe that on other social media channels, followers are greatly considered either they are active followers or not but on the blockchain, those followers need to be active.
True that on blockchain having active followers is needed and it helps. Thanks.
On a platform like steemit, having active followers is more important than having toons of followers without any significant impact or communication skill.

Im not sure if you will even read this comment (since post is so old), so I will keep it short:
what kind of followers do I want? engaging, supportive and team-orientated :) Having thousands followers doesn't means, that even 1% of them will ever invest their own time to read our posts.
I rather have 20 solid followers than 1000 "ghost followers".

I am very happy to receive your comment on my post and no matter how old my post is but I always read comments and reply.
I believe that having big number of followers is not valuable but if even few numbers are investing time to read post and engage then it matters.
Active followers are the assets and I am happy to have low numbers if they are active.
