There was an old chapel where all the locals and remote people in the boundaries used to come up for the Sunday services. One time it was freezing, a lot of snow outside and no one came to the chapel except one.

It was an old farmer that came from several miles away to the chapel even when it was snowing and freezing all over around with a terrible cold weather outside.

Hence, now there were only two people at the chapel. One was the clergyman and the other was the old farmer. So, seeing that there is only one person in the audience, the clergyman expecting a mutually helpful reacting from him said:

• - I am not sure if it's worth proceeding with the services. Might we should better go to our warm homes and have a hot drink?

After having listened what the clergyman said, the old farmer riposted:

• - Well, I am just a simple farmer. But when I go to feed my herd and if there is only one that turns up for food, I am damn sure to not leave him hungry.

Then the clergyman felt ashamed and immediately started to deliver his services. The clergyman recited hymns, did lotsa readings and told many stories. That day his services lasted a couple of hours.

At the end of his service and finishing proud of his work, the clergyman felt very happy and thanked to the old farmer for the obvious lesson saying that:
"No matter how small the need is but our duty remains" We should complete our duties even if there is only a small need.

Before both take off for their homes, the clergyman asked to the old farmer:

• - Was that okay?

The old farmer replied:

• - Well, I am just a simple farmer. But when I go to feed my herd and if only one turns up for food, I am damn sure to not force him to eat it all what I have brought for the whole herd!!
