Uses of Virtual Reality in Firefighter Training
I continue with the series that I have been developing regarding the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in different areas, in which I have already mentioned its use in training in the health field and also in military and aeronautical training. I want to bring you the use it has in the emergency areas, specifically for the firefighter training.
Follow me and learn about other aspects of the application of this wonderful technological tool.
One of the most risky jobs in the world, no doubt you perform it as a firefighter when you are permanently faced with life-threatening situations, that's why maintaining control in different situations becomes a matter of life and death.
That's why in this area the VR becomes a very useful tool in your preparation
A clear example of this is the project carried out by the Basque company Ludus, which has created its own technology Ludus Tech and works with the fire brigade of the Port of Bilbao. This has made it easier for them to recreate the port virtually, and to practice in "scenarios " possible accidents that could occur in that specific place, and without the need to risk the lives of the fire brigade and anyone else, in addition to the fact that it is not necessary to paralyse the activities of the port.
As technology has advanced, industrialization, globalization has become present, the possibilities of increasingly catastrophic accidents are also a reality. This is why it is essential to be constantly aware of and to anticipate possible accidents and their consequences.
This makes it easier for the security forces to act more quickly and more consciously when faced with the true reality of a given situation. And the practice is carried out in a safe and controlled environment, which is an important point.
Of course, I particularly say to myself: "virtual reality is one thing and real reality is another in the field, but, if I think it could help, in fact it's doing it in this area. " Because to feel the heat of the flames, people screaming and pushing around any situation, you have to live it to know exactly what it feels like.
However, I must admit that among the advantages of these practices with VR are the following:
- No water is wasted, and considering its scarcity in many parts of the world it's a good point in the care of the planet.
- It is also important and relevant that there is no real smoke, so contamination is avoided and also exposing the practitioners to respiratory diseases in their training process.
- It should be noted that people can be exposed to different situations to make decisions, with the possibility of making mistakes and not bring real consequences on anyone, and thus learn more easily from their mistakes.
Below is a video in which you can see part of the training in detail:
Another profession that is permanently at risk are those who dedicate themselves to keeping the order and these are the police officers, and obviously thinking that the use of RV in this profession is beneficial is not unreasonable, but I will leave it for another publication, for now I am saying goodbye.
In the hope that those who read me may be left with some new information.
I invite you to visit Project.hope and learn about the benefits of this project for all those interested in growing while helping others to grow.
It is definitely not an easy task to become a fire fighter and the idea of making use of virtual reality to practice is a good idea to me.
It's just a great thing for me too. It minimizes risks and avoids water expenses, occupational diseases, it is a good tool.
Thanks for your comment
Nice post ...
Thank you
VR in firefighting? This is huge. in reality I believe that there are so many dangers to fire fighting and if there was a process and actually reducing it then it is actually a welcome development by me I watched the video with keen interest and I was marvelled at the so many prospects that VR can bring to firefighting
Thank you very much for the comment.
Actually, I have been reading about it and how much there is currently and the possibilities of using VR are impressive.
And the video is very well explained, simple, understandable.
Thanks for passing @josediccus
Another interesting use of VR, I have to congratulate your interest in the subject and the fact that you are making a series of post or collection to cover different aspects of the current applications of this technology.
Thank you, Professor. The truth is, I keep being surprised by the amount of new things. And that's good, in general.

Thank you for the support.
Indeed, there's a lot that could be done in terms of visualization and finding out which responses might be the most in need. Beyond the personalization aspects of it, it'll also help to elicit the most effective standards for a group.
