Good theme.
Investing in oneself should be a rule, reading, no doubt is one of those great investments we should make.
And you are very right, when you explain something you have the possibility to know it much more, also, some questions can arise that you had not asked yourself and that forces you to investigate a little more.
Investing responsibly in oneself is what college is supposed to be about.
