It is one of the main causes of emergency surgery when there is some abdominal trauma because it easily breaks, and the internal bleeding that is triggered is very strong.
The thymus is practically nonexistent in adults, only a remnant remains that calcifies, and it does not fulfill any essential function in adult life.
