How to Cope as Financially Minded New Mum

in Project HOPE16 days ago

Ever since the journey to fatherhood began, it's been a feeling of happiness but stress-filled as well. I feel more for my wife who has to breastfeed alongside the other motherly roles she is currently performing, as a first-time Mum, it has not been a smooth road but she is thriving. She is very passionate about working alongside other activities she is engaged in, but it has not been easy for her.

Yesterday, I saw her trying to read on how she can juggle being a first-time Mum with working actively, I could tell she was getting exhausted with having to lag with her work and she was just looking for a way out. So I joined her in her research and we were able to come up with ways her motherly role could get easier and of course how she could get to spend time on her work too.

Thinking that, some Mums may have a similar experience, I thought it cool to share some of the results from our research with you. We went through the stories of experienced Mum and how they could cope with this tasking role and beat deadlines with work on the other hand.

One thing we learned from the stories of all other Mums is that they admit to having it as a stressful/tasking role. However, they all still admit to loving the comfort and love of their kids while they make some good money (really cool).

As a new Mum, it is necessary to know how to set boundaries, with the temptation associated with making more money (you need more now), you may just want to work round the clock especially when you have so many deadlines to beat, but regardless of how much money you wish to make, you should make out time for your kid and family at large too. When you are spending time with family, try not to get distracted with work and focus on family.

Learning how to delegate is a strategy that works, it may not be easy to ask for help especially if you do not like to look weak, but it is good to learn to ask for help sometimes, it could be from a colleague or a close relative.

Setting a schedule is usually difficult for a Mum because unexpected situations could come up at any time. You must learn to be flexible and adaptable all the time to situations.

Being a Mum, you could have an instinct not to look out for yourself, you want to look out for family members and your growing child. However, it is important to take self-love seriously, and spend time carrying out those activities that help you relax very well, it may be yoga, getting a massage, or even something as simple as reading a book, spend time on those activities that will help you relax well.

Be transparent with your boss and colleagues about how much you will be able to offer at this time, this will prepare the minds of everyone to understand your limit, and not get disappointed when you are not able to meet up with expected tasks.

As inconvenient/difficult as this may sound, it is time for you to become more organized, it helps to prevent anxiety in the long run.
