Crypto's Place In The Future

I recently had a discussion with some people who were doubting crypto currency in general. It felt like talking to some old people that were doubting that the Internet will not prove itself. This is the reason why in today’s article I want to discuss with you what role I see cryptocurrencies playing in the future and whether they will prove themselves like the Internet. We will talk about the general types of civilization in general, where we are currently standing as a global society and where crypto’s role in all of this is exactly.

Types Of Civilizations

Let’s start off with some general overview and very high-level view of the world. Before we can try to order our current society in, we need to understand the general theory behind the civilizations. In general, there are three types of civilizations. Everyone of those is more advanced than the previous. Type 1 Civilization is a society that communicates globally very well. That has figured out a way to produces sustainable energy from its hosting star, in our case the sun, and is very interconnected on a global scale.

Continuing in the civilization leader, there is the type 2 civilization. Here, the society is able to use energy resources from the galaxy that they are in which also means that the travel inside the galaxy is possible. This would mean that the society is basically immortal as they have very advanced and sophisticated way of transportation which would allow them to switch planets if necessary. This bring me to the third and last type of civilization: Type 3. Here, Interstellar travel is possible and the society might be able to travel between different galaxies which would be the ultimate end goal.

Our Current State

Now that we have a broad overview of the different types of civilization, let’s try to order our current society into this metric. I would suggest that we are not even a Type 1 society yet! Yes we are using a form of energy that is from the sun: Solar-Energy. The problem with that is that we are also using stuff like oil and gas which is ultimately finite on Earth. Furthermore, there are still too many different boarders and opinions on Earth! While I would advocate for different cultures and also different opinions, a type 1 civilization has one goal in mind. I would suggest that with English as a primary second language, there is a very great foundation for this but definitely needs time to get developed more.

A very interesting idea of a language that could be used in a type 3 civilazation could be math as this is used all over our current technologies, for example code and computers, but this could be too much forward thinking. Anyways. The education is also very different in different parts of the world. While many children are not getting any education, other can literally learn for their whole life. This is about to change because of the Internet and stuff like Social Media which allows people to interconnect and transfer news and knowledge very fast, although not everything on the Internet is worth listening to!

All of this would suggest that we are not quiet there yet. After all the transition from type 0 to a type 1 society could be viewed as the most dangerous! Why? A good example could be nuclear power: It is a very great technology to produce energy and that everybody on Earth should know how to produce this energy. The problem with that is that it comes with a big drawback: nuclear weapons. Because our society is still very much divided in many different topics, there is always a big potential of escalation and this would also bring the death to the complete society. Because of these small details I would consider our current civilization on a 0.7 to 0.8 level.

Where Is Crypto’s Place?

Thank you for the lesson you might think, but where is crypto’s place in all of that? Well, we talked about sectors like Communication, Energy and Education but what about Finance? This is also a big sector currently that is contributing to us not being at type 1 yet. We are still using a very outdated way of transferring wealth which also requires unnecessary many steps and is in general only there to maintain power inside one region which is usually a country.

Let’s tale international bank transfers for example. If you want to transfer something from Europe to the US, you are first faced with problems of transferring your Euros to USD or vice versa. For that, the service provider is already taking a fee from you! Then there are several different service fees for actually receiving and sending the money and the money gets touched by an insane amount of inbetweeners who should not be necessary but are only there for compliance.

On the other hand, we have this elegant Peer to Peer Solution in the form of blockchain and Bitcoin as its starting point. It allows us the direct transfer between two people without any unnecessary third party and in the best cases it will only take a couple minutes while the current process could take up to a week! Not only that but because the blockchain technology is so transparent we could exactly see where money is going to and where it is coming from. This would actually benefit the government as well as there would be a clear way to collect taxes now.

Conclusion

I think we are about to transform in a Type 1 Civilization in the next century. It will probably be the next generations of kids that will lead us into this new era. I see the current generation of leaders very critical. While they might be very conservative I think a status-maintaining policy is always bad. As I like to say, standing still equals to falling behind and this is what currently is happening in the financial sectors with all the countries to not embrace crypto. At some point down the line, there will be no catching up anymore!
