in Project HOPE3 years ago

Good day everyone! I'm starting a new series, titled, How To Overcome Procrastination As An Entrepreneur. Procrastination is something we all suffer from. We want to eat our cake and still have it, it is totally impossible. We usually procrastinate because we have others things doing but the main reason why we mainly procrastinate, is because we scared of doing the task, so procrastinate and procrastinate, until we are fed up and face the consequences for our failure to do the task. We exhibit this when we want to read for an exam, or start an exercise routine, start a tedious work assignment and so on. So, how do we overcome this very bad habit? Read through this article to find out. In this article, I will be sharing with you one awesome way to overcome procrastination as an entrepreneur or worker.

Set Goals & Reward Yourself

Setting goals is one good strategy to overcoming procrastination. Setting a goal is important because it gives you motivation, helps you stay more focus on the task at hand and helps you to organize your time and your resources more adequately and reasonably, so that you can make the most of your day. Without a goal, your efforts may become disjointed and often confusing. It is very important to know what you want to do in a day or week or month and make sure, they are part of your main goals, then set sub goals and break it down into ways you know you would be able to get it done. Make sure you only do tasks that contributes to those sub goals.

Sometimes to overcome procrastination, it is necessary you make the task harder. I know this might sound counter intuitive since, we mostly procrastinate because how difficult a task can be. Apparently, this is not so, as research shows that people report a higher sense of satisfaction if they have successfully completed a difficult task. Making a task a little more challenging should work as long as the task is achievable. Don't sabotage yourself and efforts by having unrealistic expectations which you most probably won't be able to achieve. When you set a task/goal, it is best to set a deadline to the task. This will make you feel obliged to getting the task done. Another great way to overcome procrastination is by rewarding yourself for getting a task done. We are still like babies no matter how grown up we are. Tell a child to get a tidy the surrounding, without rewarding him/her, you will notice how he/she reacts. They will be slower and less motivated to get the task done. But when there's a reward, you will notice how motivated and fast, the child will become. Think of a nice reward for every task you get done, and you will notice just how well you will overcome procrastination. Set goals and reward yourself, and say bye bye to procrastination.
