Advances in Artificial Intelligence + Robotics threaten us?

in Project HOPE4 years ago

Hello friends!

What man has achieved so far in terms of AI and Robotics engineering is something that a few years ago seemed only a dream, what previously seemed unattainable is possible today, as long as we read something related to these topics, we do not leave the astonishment The constant advances and innovations never cease to amaze us.

Given all this reality, questions arise, sometimes I wonder if man is training artificial intelligence to replace us in all tasks; The most common fear in this regard has always been the loss of jobs from humans to machines and this seems to materialize more and more.

Research work.

According to a work published in 2017 by McKinsey & Company, approximately 50% of the work activities carried out today by men around the world can be automated in the coming years; This potentially puts at risk thousands of jobs that human beings occupy in the world today.

"According to our analysis of more than 2,000 work activities in 800 professions, nearly half of the activities for which wages equivalent to $ 15 billion are paid in the world economy have the potential to be automated if proven technologies are adopted. "

"Our scenarios suggest that half of today's work activities could be automated by 2055 although this may occur 20 years earlier or later depending on various factors."

Examples of automation.

Recently the work of a group of scientists in the United States from the University of Berkeley California was learned who trained a Robot to suture, incredible but using an algorithm they called Motion2Vec, according to information the Robot was able to suture with 85.5% accuracy and a margin of error of just 0.94%. Scientists developed a system where they use videos to train the robot.

The second example comes from Japan, in the film industry they will use a humanoid to be the main actress in a movie; The film will be named "B", it will be filmed between Japan and Europe and will feature a humanoid named Erica.

"We had to simulate their movements and emotions through individual sessions"
Scientists Hiroshi Ishiguro and Kohei Ogawa said.

Conclusions.

Although the McKinsey & Company report warns that in addition to automating jobs, the same effect of displacement is expected to lead to new professions that we do not yet know, and these new professions or trades will in turn create new job opportunities. It is not without concern for people who could potentially be displaced by automation.

The point here is that all this is unstoppable, but as with the industrial revolution and the mechanization of the countryside and factories, the human being will continue to evolve and find new forms of subsistence and we will get used to living with all these technological advances.

Let me know your opinion.

@fucho80 automation is the biggest enemy for the small labour as their jobs are in danger. But we are doing very fast advancement in the field of A.I

No doubt, AI and automation (technology as a whole) has helped us in many ways but looking at the flip side, it has also brought some banes with it. For example, AI is fast replacing human jobs and causing humans to live a sedentary lifestyle. Well, in all these things, we will still choose technology, but we will only brace up for impact.

Nice piece buddy

It is definite that advancement in A.I will make a lot of people lose their jobs but still those machines will need humans to control them, clean then and other things so I really do not see them completely replacing humans soon.

I am beginning to wonder how this automated system will affect the human activities both positively and negatively in years to come probably in 20 years to come

AI could be toxic if overused, the idea of singularity still scares me to an extent. Machines are becoming more humans, it will take humans to be 'more machine' in order to meet up with these advancement. I like the idea of intelligence augmentation over Artificial intelligence.

new maintenance-related jobs will be created, robot training, repair and improvements. I don't think we are displaced, but we are going to be more comfortable

I still believe A.I won't be able to do all things but am pretty sure many will lost out on their jobs.

Totally agree, there are already people losing jobs because of automation in some companies.

AI technology is good in many ways but it is a serious threat to many jobs. Lately my hubby underwent a complex surgery and it was done Robotic, if it would have been manual, there could have been complications since the surgery was done near the heart area. So in some ways it is good but yes getting it into our day to day life activities is not very good. Like lately in my city there are restaurants opened up where the robots serve, such things are not good, first of all no personal touch and loss of jobs.

There is no doubt that technology (robots or something) will steal many jobs from humans, but I am sure that we will always be superior to machines... After all, we are the ones responsible for creating "them".

I like that forcefulness, I think just like you, without a doubt automation is inevitable and some jobs will be lost, but others will arise where humans will work. What is definitive is that the machine will not surpass man, so I think.
