The Investors, The Employees, The Customers; Who is more Important to a Business?

In a business, there are three sets of people that makes things go around. From the origin of business, its activities, profit, loss, growth and sustainability depends on them. In this case, A business require three set of people to keep running as well as growing and these people are the investors, the employees, and the customers. These people keep the circle of business going round and they are very vital to any business at all.

Simple Definition

Definitely, Investors are people who believe in your ideas, plans, goals and designs and have decided to put in their funds to make your ideas become reality. They expect returns for their money and in most cases they lose their money if the company goes bankrupt.

Employees are the ones who have to sacrifice their time, knowledge and experience to make sure the company remains alive and continues to operate so it can deliver to its customers which will in turn cause cash-flow into the company that allows the investor, the business owner and the employees get paid for their activities.

The first sign of bankruptcy is when your products and services are not consumed by the consumers/ customers (The customers always right thing or the customers are king story). This set of people are the ones who pay for the entire effort the above two have put into action.



in business, the investors bring money, the customers and consumers pay money for services while the staffs collect money (They are paid), they are not paying for anything.

Customers are King

The main goal of every great idea in business is high revenue and this only happens when customers are in the picture. The lack of customers in the picture of a business is the beginning of bankruptcy. Every business needs revenue so as to expand and pay for operational costs which will often come in from the revenue made when customers buy the product or services. To tell how important customers are, a company do not have to reduce its office size before it starts retrenching workers, all that needs to happen is a decrease in demand for their products or services by their customers for 2 quarters in a year. Both the investors and the staff needs revenues from products and services sold so they can both the happy, the staffs get paid for their work and the investors get returns from profits.

Investors are the Business Engine

There need to be a source of income for a business be it a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or a non-profit organization and this comes from the business engine which is the investor. They own the money and are the ones pushing the idea behind. The entire business is running on their money which gives them stakes in the business.

Healthy Employee, Healthy Customers

The employees are the face of the company to the consumers, meaning consumers judge your company based on your employees. Very few people knows Bezos but customers will start changing preferences if Amazon employees starts to act cold to them. A Happy employee is a happy customer just like a healthy food produces a healthy lifestyle. Have you seen when a customer complains about a product, most business owners can’t handle such thing but the bullets are been collected by the employees with a soft smile trying to apologize to the customer.



On a final note, a business cannot run without these people since they all have their functions but one is more important compared to the other. So who do you think comes first, second and who comes last, is it the investor, the customers or the employees

Very interesting topic. Surely each of the 3 has an important role in the economic chain. But if something gets jammed, they are all affected but in a different way because an investor at an economic level certainly does not have the same problems as the workers. But in the end, however, we are all consumers! Then it doesn't matter whether we spend and consume of basic necessities or luxury goods because the important thing is to spend and who cannot remain invisible. Thanks for sharing.😊

I think that the three actors that you talk about in this publication are primordial for a business company to be successful, however if you want to evaluate which is the primordial piece, without a doubt it is the clients, because if there are no investors, the owner with the little he has can start his business, If there are no employees, well, the owner can make an effort to attend to his own business, but if there are no customers in the production chain, everything fails, because in my opinion the essence of a company's profit is in selling, and if there are no customers who buy, there are no sales, and if there are no sales, there are no profits.

Really very important your point of view for any entrepreneur who wants to start his own business, I think that here under the premises that you explain well you can find the basic principles to start with your business company. I always use this quote "customers are always right" whenever i go to the extreme when shopping. Truthfully i believe both the customers and the employees are priorities for the investors, they are simply doing business.

Investors are actually doing their business but the employees are working to keep the company going while the customers are the ones buying the product and services.

I am sure you use the quote customers are always right when you feel upset about how an employee behaves towards you :)

It is quite difficult to choose who to come first but i will say customers first. If the employees know this, they will always make sure customers are happy and that is good for business.
