Entanglement is a concept that many people find quite confusing and mind-boggling since it is linked to the quantum mechanics branch of physics. If two particles get intertwined, then a change in the condition of any one of those particles will affect the other, no matter the distance between them. This means that the state of one of the particles of a pair of entangled particles will influence the state of the other particle, no matter how far apart the two particles are, say from the earth to the stars and back. Albert Einstein used to call this as “spooky action at a distance”.

Current trials have thus verified entanglement and have also proved that it is one of the technologies that hold the key to revolutionizing technology. Quantum entanglement also applies to quantum computing as a fundamental concept and here the qubits can be in two or more states at once, thus calculations can be made at speeds which are vastly much higher. Furthermore, particles that are linked in some way are already considered for ultra-secure quantum communication that cannot be intercepted.

It relates to the current physics view of reality and locality making us understand that the universe is entangled in a way that is hard to understand. The behavior of entangled particles is still perplexing and evoking the scientific interest, thus becoming the way of studying the quantum realm.
