RE: What is Ransomware? How does it work?
Dear @unbiasedwriter
I just read post by @lanzjoseg about ransomware attack on his uni and I've noticed your comment. Thx for sharing link to this post.
It's a bit old so I'm not even sure if you will read any more comments. Just wanted to thank you for solid read and for sharing your knowledge with us.
ps.
I like to have my second laptop ready (with most backed up data). So in case if something goes wrong with first one - I can just switch it on second one and continue my work.
I've been thinking about starting to use VPN, however ... I think I need some push since I'm clearly to lazy and slow to try it out :) Maybe those 2 posts (yours and Jose) will become my "wake up call".
Install an antivirus program and keep it up to date.
Which one would you recommend? (I don't like free tools)
Yours, Piotr
There are lots of virus program to choose from, but I would most likely go for one with apps for more platforms, that you might be able to use on your mobile as well (even though it drains your battery). :)
The VPN is so easy... just install, run program, connect to a server, and enable CyberSEC, and you are good to go. It all takes less than 2 minutes... But I will write an article about PROs and CONs with a VPN as well soon, because there are some annoying negatives as well!
