Don't Give Unsolicited Advice

Most people are quick to giving advise when they haven't been asked for it, and it's a very wrong thing to do. When you give an unsolicited advice, it's as though you already concluded that such a person doesn't know what he's doing; and people really hate this.

There's a popular saying, "To offer a man unsolicited advice is to presume that he doesn't know what to do, or that he can't do it on his own." And that's so true. The very fact that you're attempting to advise a person, means that you think that he's doing something wrong.

And most people hate to be told what to do, especially when they did not ask for your opinion. Hence, no matter what you feel, do your best to keep your advice to yourself, until the person asks you for help or assistance, or for a piece of advice.

Another famous saying about never giving unsolicited advice is, "More and more unsolicited gifts from without are likely to be received with unconscious resentment." People tend to hate it, when you offer advice when you're not asked to.

There's no need for you to draw unwanted resentments to yourself simply because you feel like you want to help that person. You need to learn to only help those who asked for your help, otherwise it's much better to go your own way.
