Did you know that there was a man who was richer than Bill Gates for 3 days? I am not talking about Jeff Bezos as he has been the richest man on the planet for a while now, I am talking about Masayoshi Son, the founder of Softbank and he lost 99% percent of his net worth. Softbank isn’t a financial bank as you will think, it is a bank for software. Masayoshi Son has invested in a lot of companies like Yahoo owning 33% of the company’s equity before going public and owning 60% of Yahoo japan. He also invested in Alibaba before the company went public. In all this, Masayoshi Son cannot forget the event that made him richer than Bill Gates for 3 days and sent him to almost bankruptcy.

His net worth was increasing at $10 billion a week and at the peak of the Softbank Group Corp’s market price rise, there was a burst. The company shares went up to 75% in 2 months during the bubble but went low up to 99% at the end of the year 2000. He was at his young age willing to see the head of McDonalds which he was able to meet after several trial. They discussed and the head told him to focus on the internet.

The Softbank Company came into existence when Masayoshi Sun invested $80,000 to create a software retail company. The software company soon became profitable and started investing in other industries and company from publishing, broadband internet services and many more. The CEO invested in 600 technological companies including Alibaba, Yahoo and many more. So many were not good investment and many were worth the investment. The tech billionaire bought Vodafone Japan and used it in the sales of iPhone in Japan which was a success. The CEO has made a lot of investment including acquiring ARM, investing in NVIDIA, FLIPKART, acquiring a controlling shares in SPRINT in 2012 and many more.
