I can see the benefit of them tokenising their reward system and it may introduce more users to the concept of cryptocurrency and blockchain. That can only be a good thing.

As per a threat for Steem? I don't think it really will do. The content is quite different on the two platforms and here we have much better blogging content. Perhaps even the opposite, when people learn about blockchain on social media they may look around to see where else it is being used.
