The war speech

in Project HOPE4 years ago

The media have emerged as the creators of social realities. Since its inception, although more frequently since the 1980s, the media have opted for the formation of popular and spectacular speeches to report on the most relevant events, designed to attract audiences, including war speech, as an instrument propagandist and diffuser. Armed problems have managed to become institutionalized over time, forming "normal" discourses with the media at their services, spreading war news as part of professional routine. The experiences of each nation become a crucial element for the development of these discourses, becoming ideological weapons that legitimize the conflict. Filling the vocabulary of the human being with such everyday words as battle, fight, combat, weapons.

War discourse is understood as the construction of an ideological address whose objective is to focus on the population the feeling of rejection of the enemy, whatever its nature, using terms of war or associated with them. Likewise, this becomes the differentiating element to reform the social image of civilizations. This has permeated all branches of human events as it has, for example, in sports, fans of any sport are used to hearing or reading words like hero, artillery, massacre, bombardment, clash of titans or massacre, without considering the enormous warmongering language that flood their audience. Sport and war maintain an identity around a system in which there is someone who wins and someone who loses.

In the same way, diseases and the pandemic are treated with this type of language, the way diseases are talked about is not an innocent topic, it has to do with how the disease is thought of and influences the way in which patients they face it, with that language, a dynamic of demands on the patient is generated. With orders such as being brave, being strong, among others. And if he dies, it is usually said "he lost the battle" as if the patient had not done enough, how unfair right? Today and due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the use of the word war and all its associated conceptual nature has been linked to what is called complex emergencies. Complex emergencies are those humanitarian crises that have their origin in different causes of a social, cultural, religious, environmental nature and that the language of war immediately addresses.

The fact of placing the words in such a specific metaphorical area also greatly influences the way we have to deal with that situation. In addition, people are placed in a rather peculiar linguistic situation in which they have to fight and do things typical of a time of war. In the masculine metaphorical contour of always throughout history, the style of resolving conflicts is through confrontation and struggle, not through empathy or through care or any other type of resolution, we must change the warmongering language that has invaded the life of the man.

Sort:

War should be the last option for any country as it destroys the whole country and the culture and historical places.

We need to try to avoid any war suitation so that we can save millions of life.

Hi dear friend @aplausos

And if he dies, it is usually said "he lost the battle" as if the patient had not done enough

some call that kind of vocabulary the war of the fourth generation, beyond the language of war, the aggressive advertising of certain products that leads you to think that your life is worth nothing if you don't have them, the media certainly have to change

god bless you

Certainly the positive and motivating language does not "sell" but we must consider the possibility of transforming it for our own welfare and that of humanity, thank you very much for stopping by this space and read me, success.
