Hallo steemians ,
It's been long hope your all doing great. Being a pupil later transformed in to a dtudent because of the blick chain of Education ,despite of the long and short holidays i didnot always find a chance to engage in garden work since most of my time i usually got busy with my books reading here and there plus research work to see myself to the next level .
At school in primary four i got a chance of doing Agriculture as a subject enjoyed the classes but the teaching did not last any longer because at the end of the day someone would only seat for four papers. I loved the subject and fell in love with farming though i looked very lazy and weak in terms of energy. Staying in town didnot give me a chance to farm and prove my self wrong or correct. When i joined the secondary school i studied Agricultre and offered Agricultre at my Senior three and Four .performed very well and hoped to do it at a higher level but things faied on the way and i dropped out.
While in school I learnt that Uganda has only two seasons. The dry season and wet season. In the Dry season we do prepare the land and the wet season do the sowing and planting.
Very excited about the lockdown of 2021. This was because the covid had become tough in Kampala where i was studying from .I feared death and i had to get home so quickly to save my life.
Reaching home my parents could not allow us stay un town any longer becouse of the stiuation there . we left the town for the village to do farming so as to keep busy . I was so happy about there decission thoug my brother was very annoyed.
So we moved to our village home and started a new life. During the moment it was a dry season as the sun was very hot and couldnt allow farming. We sat home and waited for the start of the wet season. Towards the end of thedry season we started preaping and tilling the land getting ready for season two wet season.0n the night before the day we deccied to get started with the garden work, we had a heavy meal of posho and beans to keep strong fof the next day. We woke up very early in the moring at six and got our hoes ready to the garden for business.

Tilling the land involves activites like

  1. cutting down unwanted trees to brighten the l the land. This is because plants need light from sunshine to grow.

  2. Slashing . This is done to cut the long grass short so that at the time of digging work is made easy as the land is bear.

  3. Collecting the slashed grass and weeds to get the land clear. Wait for the grass to dry snd burn it.

  4. Deep plouging. This is done to to air rate the soil. And make the soil particales small from the the lumped ones. Thdn chucking the Soil Ph sample if possible

5.Application of manure and fertillizers . This is done as the last step of land preparation to make the soil fertile. Here one can use ;
Cow dung ,rotting materials like food peeling and artificzl fertilizers like phosphorus.

Above is how to handle a slasher for effective slashing.

After the slashing deep ploughing is done as blow

After all the garden practices are done, the prapred land gains a virgin look as it waits for the rain to start to make it moist for planting.

Very tired after digging .

Below is the picture of a well prepared piece of land best for growing on beans. This because of the way it was prepared . beans are legums and need well air rated soils so as to gain root nodules and fix nitrogen in the soil.

The land is now just waiting for the rains to start and we plant beans .

Advise to my fellow steemians . farming never lies if done in the best way with the right procedures. Emback on our back born because its really interesting as you get your self busy here and there with fresh foods only.
