Tell us about the exciting place you have been at in your Country "Uganda"

First of all, there are a lot of exciting places in my country Uganda that I have been too but today I want to tell you about this place called Lake Bunyonyi Lake Bunyonyi is found in the south-western part of Uganda between kisoro and Kabale. The scenery of this place alone will give you butterflies in your body. [Link]

Last year in December I and a couple of friends went on a road trip to Lake Bunyonyi and I must say we had a great experience along the journey. Especially if the people you are traveling with are fun to hang around.

Our trip was a 3 day trip with each day having activities scheduled so as to have a good experience.

Day 1

On this day we had the pickups and by 7am in the morning we were all in the van the off we headed for Kabale. We didn’t have many stop overs along the journey because we had all been to most of the places. Though we made a stop at Total Masaka, through Mbarara town not forgetting Lukaya for that mouthwatering chicken and nyama choma. The way the vendors struggle to display their chicken in the van windows. I think its better to step out of the van to get the best chicken.

By 8pm we were at our destination and checking into our sleeping areas. Prior to the trip day we had booked accommodation at Bugombe Getaway Camp which is located next to Lake Bunyonyi. Dinner was prepared for us and we sat by the camp fire chatting and telling stories while listening to some music as we eagerly waited for the next day’s activities.

Day 2

This was the most scheduled day because we had to make sure it was fully occupied and we had to see everything in the place. We were up by 8am, had our breakfast by the view of the famous Lake Bunyonyi.

The breath was just everything. After breakfast we went for a boat ride on the lake where we got to see lots of historic islands, birds, the residents of this area ‘Bunyonyi’.

The boat ride left us at a different location where we had to embark on the hiking bit of our trip. This hike was leading us to the highest point of Bunyonyi where we were able to see all the islands of this lake from one view. How cool is this?. We did take some pictures at this places and then we sloped down the hill into another boat that took us to another activity. Zip lining. You can leave Bunyonyi without doing the ‘Zip Line’.

Before you get onto the zip line safety is a must. Everyone given a helmet, wore safety belts and the stewards gave us the zip lining guidelines. The adrenaline is exciting.

This was the highlight of the day and then we went back to our guest house. Had dinner, sat by the fire with music and our guide Hannah enlightened us with stories about Lake Bunyonyi.

Day3

I don’t know about the others but I felt like day 3 and final of the trip came fast. I think it was because I didn’t want to leave already. But just like they say, ‘Every Good Thing come to an End’. Let’s just say that this is not true sometimes because am so going back to this place and continue the fun.

My experience in Lake Bunyonyi was exciting because I loved the scenery, the food and the nature alone is beautiful. Being here gave me a peace of mind away from the crowded city surroundings. This is a place you should visit when you get the chance. Thank you for reading my entry.

God Bless You
