Exceptional zoo chimpanzees. 2021.
The common chimpanzees have a scientific name called pan troglodyte and in the family of Hominidae.
I find chimpanzees one of the most intriguing animals in the world. In Uganda, chimps are found in different areas. A large percentage of them can be found in Kibale National Park and if you are lucky you will see them in Budongo Forest.
I went to the zoo(Uganda wildlife educational center) and I learnt so much about many animals thanks to Peter.M who was my tour guide at the zoo. Chimps face a lot of threats while in the wild and these include:
- deaths; a couple of them have been killed in the national parks by poachers. Many of them get injured from the snares used to trap other animals like elephants.
- Diseases kill them to. Most of the chimps that are rescued are taken to a beautiful island on lake Victoria called Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary.
At the zoo.
Here are some interesting facts about chimpanzees.
- chimps can walk and stand upright.
- they can jump from one tree to another without making a sound.
- chimps are social
- they break nuts with a stone.
- an average female chimp can give birth at the age of 13.
- chimps have the closest DNA to humans.
Here are some animals you can find when you visit the zoo in Entebbe Uganda.
The proud peacock.
The Rothschild giraffe.
Lazy but King of the jangle. The Lion
White rhino.
Serval cat
The male ostrich.
The Nile crocodile
