Una visita a la exposición "Matisse: Arte en equilibrio" (Parte 1) [ESP / ENG]
En mi ciudad natal, Mérida, Yucatán, se está llevando a cabo la exposición Matisse, Arte en Equilibrio, en donde se exhiben más de 100 obras del famoso pintor francés Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954). La sede de la exposición es el Centro Cultural Olimpo, ubicado en la calle 62 con 61 del Centro Histórico. La exposición estará disponible de enero a abril y se encuentra esparcida en las tres salas de la planta alta, dividiéndose en 8 conjuntos con sus respectivos recuadros explicativos.
Esta publicación se dividirá en tres partes, cada una dedicada al contenido de las salas de exposición.
El día de hoy exploraremos la primera sala de exhibición, en donde encontramos tres conjuntos. El primero de éstos es una serie de retratos en honor a uno de sus grandes amigos, el poeta Guillaume Apollinaire, fallecido en 1918 tras haber participado en la Primera Guerra Mundial. El segundo está compuesto de una serie de ilustraciones sobre arte primitivo, uno de los temas que más han fascinado a Matisse. El último conjunto reúne algunas ilustraciones que Matisse hizo para Repli, de su también gran amigo André Rouveyre.
In my hometown, Mérida, Yucatán, is taking place the exhibition Matisse, Art in Balance, where more than 100 works of the famous French painter Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954) are exposed. The venue for the exhibition is the Olimpo Cultural Center, located at 62nd and 61st streets in the Historic Downtown. The exposition is available from January to April and is scattered in the three rooms on the top floor, divided into 8 sets with their respective explanatory boxes.
This publication will be divided into three parts, each one dedicated to the content of the exhibition halls.
Today we'll explore the first exhibition hall, where we find three sets. The first of these is a series of portraits in honor of one of his great friends, the poet Guillaume Apollinaire, who died in 1918 after having participated in the First World War. The second is composed of a series of illustrations on primitive art, one of the themes that has fascinated Matisse the most. The last set is reunites some illustrations that Matisse did for Repli, by André Rouveyre, also a great friend of his.
