Meet Our Pet Peacock 🦚

Daffy, our pet peacock, is too old to carry now. At 2 years, they mature and become adults. But, as a doting parent, sometimes, it’s hard to let go...

I remember, not too long ago, driving up with him, two peahens, as babies, along with Daffy’s foster mama, a chicken, from Florida to Washington DC, around a 16 hour drive, with birds honking in the back seat of the car).

If you haven’t heard it before, here’s the story of how we acquired these royal companions.

A friend of the family, and animal lover —- I call him Zorba the Greek, (although he's Cuban) or Father Nature —- saw them running around, somewhere in Miami, rescued them and after a few months in his petting zoo of a home, gifted them to us :)

Or, so the story goes... We were told he had just a couple of peacocks, for us to drive up to Maryland as a gift to my in-laws, yet they turned out to be 3 - along with aforementioned hen, Josephine, the surrogate mama of young peacock.
