COVID 19 Causing Buying Panic Everywhere~
Hi Everyone,
As everyone is talking and thinking about the new HIVE, my brain today was more about buying food because we received a message from my inlaws they were able to change their flights and fly home straight away from Amsterdam. It has been an exhausting period for us in Sydney seeing viruses taking over Europe and knowing they were over there makes it hard. I'm glad they were able to find a flight getting them back 1 week earlier.
Because they need to be in quarantine for 14 days, with only 1-day notice, I quickly went to the shops to get some food for them. Honestly, everything is slow in stock or sold out so trying to find something to buy can be challenging. I managed to get a whole heap of things plus the rice and toilet paper I have for myself, thought I would give it to them first as I still have some in the house. The butcher was just too crowded I gave up and bought a few things from the mainstream supermarket in the morning at 8 am! Honestly, it's ridiculous we have to go in so early to get meat!
In the end, I ended up getting a decent amount for them which may last them 7 days, possibly more. They got home with a full fridge of food and snacks on the table. I bet they were missing home food so they would be cooking a feast at home with all that time on the hands. They would probably do stuff in the garden and wipe the house down back to front.

14 days quarantine? Better get 9 months worth of toilet paper like the rest of Australia.
Am glad that your in laws are returning home soon.
I would prefer being quarantine in my own comfort home than in a center with strangers all around me.
but europe is closing its borders for 30 days....

Yeah it is a bit crazy. I hope that common sense prevails soon and this gets sorted out quickly.
Bread is getting tougher to buy, at least the stuff I like. People are stockpiling here too. Curiously, the chocolate and Easter egg sections are quite full.
Excellent, thank God you are already at home and you could get food, here in my village we are all in quarantine to prevent the spread, although the virus has not arrived and we pray to God that it does not arrive, a hug, take care friend @travelgirl
Those beans and nuts are OK but things like potatoes don't last.
You got some rice or even flour and what other ingredients flour need to make your own other food?
