A before and after refresh
In this round of renovations, we probably won't be able to update the kitchen, which while it works, has seen better days and is definitely not our style. As we don't won't to spend on aesthetics at this point, my wife did want to make the kitchen feel (and smell) a little fresher - so we bought some paint, masked it up and set in.

It was great because we didn't need much paint (2.7 litre can) and we only used half, as the coverage was good and only needed one coat - even under morning light inspection, as I was painting past midnight.
So, for the cost of the paint, a small roller, a roll of masking tape and a bit of sweat, the kitchen feels a lot fresher and modern, even though nothing has really changed.
I think my wife mostly wanted to do this, because things have been delayed a little and "we" haven't done much by way of renovating. I have spent days with a crowbar tearing things apart - but that doesn't count. :D

It looks very nice. I'd love to have a kitchen that size. Mine is more like the cupboard under the stairs, never enough work surface and no good if you want to chat to a friend while preparing the meal.
It's a good idea to have a mini updo on some rooms, so they feel "yours" and a welcome place to come to while other parts of the house are being crowbarred (although that is also satisfying: one of the things I most enjoyed in a previous house was taking down a wall with a sledgehammer. It's not often you get the opportunity to be so wantonly destructive).
The large kitchen is a luxury for sure. In our previous apartment it was joined with the lounge, so felt larger than it was.
Cooking with friends holding a glass of wine is the way cooking should be done.
The destruction work is fun, but I am feeling it today.
