Have you ever been to an outlet mall? We are lucky enough to have one in Michigan that is one of the largest in the Midwest. It is a shoppers paradise! Store after store after store of brand name merchandise all in one mammoth central location!

There are of course shelves of assorted chocolates that are pleasing to the eye as well as the taste buds.

Yes they even have goodies for the kiddies!

And plenty of Valentine's chocolates to give to your Valentine, or simply stash away for yourself. No judgement here!

Not to mention they had some decent sales running!

Oh the Master Chocolatiers have created heaven right here on earth when they made the LINDOR truffle. They come in many varieties of flavors. They are sweet balls of chocolaty goodness with a harder shell of flavored chocolate enclosing a somewhat softer center of chocolaty delight!

And if that all is not enough to get your sweet tooth acting up, I dont know what will. Perhaps these HUGE truffles lol. Not bad for ten bucks!

Hello friends and welcome to another edition of Market Friday. As always I want to thank the lovely @dswigle for putting so much effort into her tag. She is an inspiration to me and an example to us all how to run a successful tag!

My daughter loves a lot of Asian culture from anime to food, so we had to stop in this store.

They seemed to be buying at least one of everything!!

Absolutely non of it was inexpensive!!!

They even sold bubble tea...

20200126_133834.jpg

They even include an over-sized straw

To get all of the tapioca like "bubbles" out!

A few years ago, I met an old friend at an outlet mall in Minnesota. It still seemed to be thriving. The outlet mall nearest to me, over in Post Falls, Idaho, is nearly dead. One steucture is different and seems to be under separate ownership. It still plods along while crumbling away. The other buildings were under different management, I think, and it had two long buildings mirroring one another on either side of a street. One has been bought as factory space by Tedder Industries for manufacturing Alien Gear holsters. The other has a couple odd shops and who knows what will happen with the space in time.

Oh for sure. All of the local malls have been really hurt. It seems like the big anchor store go away, then the smaller shops dont draw the people and dont last long. Amazon has really put the hurt on brick and mortar stores.

Modern shopping malls came into their own in the 70s and 80s, and I think the outlet malls probably got big starting in the 90s. The big box stores built their businesses in retail, and some adapted to mail-order. But the internet threw them for a loop thanks to bureaucratic inertia. Sears could have been what Amazon is, but corporate culture isn't built around innovation and risk the way startup culture in the tech world was.

I’d never heard of an outlet mall, but a google search revealed that they do exist locally. Being so close to Asia, we have a lot of “Bubble Tea” stores with the big straws too.
Burger King here have added small flavoured “bubbles” to their frozen coke drinks.
Here’s one of their frozen Fantas.o3ahh9.jpg

OOOoooooOOOOoooooooooo

That looks like a very nice drug store.. yes.... I said drug store. LOL.... especially for sugar addicted people like me !

There was a delightful outlet mall here for a time and it lasted for many years. Eventually though, the popular shopping spots moved a couple of exits down the highway and the original one became a ghost town. It was wonderful while it lasted.

Those Lindor truffles are to die for! If Santa doesn't leave me a small package every year I know I've been naughty, and not in the good way!
