RE: Steem Deep Dive - ROI for a Freelance Writer Vs Loss of Proof of Brain

in OCD4 years ago (edited)

Why stop at $3 steem? "Steem to the moon baby"... And so on and so forth...

Love the in depth analysis as well, I'll have to get a clean pair of pants on after the spreadsheet analysis

I follow trails I trust (travelfeed, steemitworldmap and curie) because otherwise my VP would just be sitting idle as I am not really a "super active" steem user. So if I can just give a bit of upvote love to those who have been recognised by others, it's the least I can do. Plus being busy with studio time, day job, Co running EMA and yourtop3... Suddenly, where's the time gone! Plus offline living...

Reality for me is that I just have to follow trails as I can't be around all the time. I'd love for steem to be a livable amount but the reality isn't there yet, not for us UK folks!

If I ever become a whale or an orca, I'd do my best to make sure the decent content gets rewarded, let's hope steem is still around by the time that happens!

ha ha, shit happen.... or in this case other more pleasant things. We all get a semi for a spreadsheet now and again lol

I get it, but I wan't really talking about that type of trail. There are one or two private trails where the support is literally only for other people on the trail. It is essentially a circle jerk... pure and simple! And that's what I experimented with out of sheer frustration and anger over the things I mention in this article.

travelfeed, steemitworldmap and curie trails are supporting all kinds of diverse deserving people, the trail I refereacne in this article is a private members club, hens why I needed to lease SP to get the higher vote... it is basically a bunch of people voting only each other.

This is why I apologize half way through the article, and attempt to explain my position as a freelance writer in feeling pretty much forced to see if/how I could increase what I earned for quality writing on here.

Anyway, these private members trails/circle jerks have been going on for years and they'll probably still go on for years if steem survives. I wanted to provide an analytical post here without judgement based on experience.

Also, I'm over it! Trails I might do again, but not private member ones... only ones like curie that are lifting everyone up!

Hahahaha! Spreadsheet semis anonymous club 😂 although it's not so anonymous now it's on the blockchain... Oh well! There is an excel community as well in case you needed to pass the time lol!

Ah I get it, sorry for the misunderstanding, I have seen these types of "trails" but it is circle jerking and ethically feels a bit wrong but understand the allure of doing them. Thanks for the objective look at them.

Whatever happened to working for your steem, getting to know people and creating a network of followers who would come back to your blog? Call me old fashioned but I find it's far more rewarding getting authentic support and comments. Sadly seems many don't want to put the effort in

it is, and you're right. All of my gripes were around ROI on time, which I think comes across in this post... but the crux of what I discovered by joining a trail of 'mutual stroking vote club ' is that it made no difference to that issue anyway.

Yeah, it is really but there is a serious grey area I think as a lot of people on steem do essentially vote the same people, I think the difference is that 'most' of them, however little they step outside their circle, actally do interact with that circle.

Anyway, I feel like it was worth doing just for this analysis. I wish i could have read a post like this before I made the decision to give it a go. It would have saved a lot of wasted time.

Flipping it like a PR ninja😂
