Travel to the Bay of Bengal: Day One at Saint Martin's Island

in OCD4 years ago

Beautiful days just come unexpectedly sometimes. It was really lucky moment for us when few family groups got together and plan a unexpected journey to the beautiful Island called the "Saint Martin's Island".
We were looking for a good day to start our journey and looking for comfortable transport to the Island and accommodation in the Island. We were lucky enough to find a good cottage in the Island and booked four biggest room, we were a group of 18 people including kids! So our all efforts and energy was to make the tour successful and enjoyable.

The day was just perfect we started from Dhaka by Bus at 11pm, we choose this time so that we could board straight to the Sea Boat as they set sails (!) at 7am in the morning. The Bus we were travelling to called Saint Martin's itself and comfortable.

Within 6am we reached in the banks of beautiful Naf River which is a international river with average 39 meter depth and started it's journey from the Chin Hills mountain range of Myanmar and falls in the Bay of Bengal. This is really a beautiful river and the closing end where it falls in the Bay is really beautiful. This scenery just started after the Sea Boat left the Teknaf jetty.

Saint Martin's Island is a Coral based Island has a history of 250 of settlement when Arabian sailors started living here. Millions years ago this part belongs to the main land and the connection submerged and got separated. This island got a beautiful peach of separate land called Chera Dwip is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

We don't know the real beauty still waiting for us along adventure and it started just after we entered into the Bay of Bengal. The Sea Boat just started to shaking due to bigher weaving around suddenly we found the water difference between the Bay and River! There was a line or I can say water line between sweet and salty water. It was very nice experience.

Our Tour Started already!

The beautiful part during the boat journey was the Seagulls! They were always our companions until we reached close to the Island. Basically they were flying behind to the sideway of the ship as small fishes they found in the back water flow of the ship and people through chips to them from the ralin (please don't do this or if still you do this please don't through any non perishable items in the water like- plastic, any kind)

Our Ship or Sea Boat whatever you called just touched the Jetty at St. Martin's Island and it was like thousands of people were getting off the boats touched the land, few of them even didn't able to touch the Jetty but taking help of other boats to pass their passengers off their boat. It was like a bridge of few ships!

Beautiful peace of land in the middle of nowhere in the water! It was Myanmar on the left we last seen the land which also invisible by then! As our Resort was on the west beach, we had to go accross the Island's belly kind location and I guess it was most beautiful part ! I was wrong and I'll tell gradually- why! It took 20 munites walk to reach the resort and open Sea just after the report! Straight to the beach! Just left the bag on the balcony and ran away!

I'm sharing the location of Somudro Kutir Resort case anyone would be interested! They got enough space for groups and a big dining experience.

If you like to enjoy some peaceful moment here is the place got enough space apart from the beach. Reading books in the morning or whole day long would be just perfect for anyone.

It was like couple of hours we were swimming and making sand houses and playing in the beach, finally we were hungry to have our lunch.

Our journey was too much like 6/7 hours bus journey and then the Sea Boat more than couple of hours and we were too hungry.

At dining we were having fresh Coral Fish from the sea and boiled rice with smashed potatoes.

After Lunch it was time for being lazy and I was use the hammock to take a little nap but my nap stayed for 10 minutes while my cousins drank me down to the beach to enjoy the afternoon.
