Such an interesting post. I think evolution can be split into two categories: obtuse evolution which is the development and changes of species over time, and acute evolution which is the change of behaviour and attitudes. Acute evolution, of course, is not a change in DNA as obtuse evolution is, but is much quicker, and I think, much more profound in the immediate effect it has. This can be applied to humans; to use your example of covid-19: an event has happened that has massively changed our attitudes, our behaviours and our environment and whilst the effects probably won't last long enough to change us in the traditional sense of evolution, for us living here and now it has completely changed our lives and in that way made us evolve.
