I continue to bring you some images of the tour I did some time ago on the island of Corsica, the pearl of the Mediterranean and that lasted a whole week, allowing me to explore it from North to South along the entire coastal strip.

In our last article we had reached Calvi starting from the North to the South of the island:

The curious thing about the name of many cities on the island of Corsica is that some still retain their names in French as would be natural, a product of the Corsican domination that continues to this day, as for example we can see in this article Roucher de Lion we barely left ** Calvi **.

But also names in Italian such as ** Porto Vecchio **, the city that follows, which still retains the name of the old and Genoese domination, called at that time the Republic of Genoa.

Lo curioso del nombre de muchas ciudades de la isla de Córcega es que algunas conservan aún su nombre en francés como sería natural, producto de la dominación corsa que se extiende hasta nuestros días, como por ejemplo podemos ver en este artículo Roucher de Lion apenas dejamos Calvi.

Pero también nombres en italiano como Porto Vecchio, la ciudad que sigue, que conserva aún el nombre de la antigua y dominación genovés, llamada en ese momento la República de Génova.

The Rock of the Lion (Roucher de Lion) owes its name to the analogy it shows as a whole with the figure of the animal. It also has the shape of a tower at the top and all together they form the Cape of Roccapina.

We saw it from the sea but it is actually a 5.1 kilometer loop trail with beautiful wildflowers adaptable for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.

La Roca del León (Roucher de Lion) debe su nombre a la analogía que muestra en su conjunto con la figura del animal. Tiene también la forma de una torre en la punta y todo junto forman el Cabo de Roccapina.

Nosotros lo vimos desde el mar pero en realidad es un sendero circular de 5.1 kilómetros con hermosas flores silvestres adaptable para todos los niveles de habilidad. El sendero ofrece una serie de opciones de actividades y es accesible todo el año.

Porto Vecchio. / Puerto Viejo.

Porto Vecchio is a port village in Corsica. The walls of the Genoese citadel of the sixteenth century are the backdrop to the old city and offer views of the tourist harbor crowded with yachts. Shops, bars and restaurants overlook the narrow streets and the main square, Place de la République.

Among the renowned beaches in the surrounding area, the one of Palombaggia, bordered by a pine forest, and that of Santa Giulia, similar to a lagoon, deserve to be mentioned.

Porto Vecchio (Puerto Viejo) es uno de los tantos pueblos de antiguos pescadores en Córcega.

Las paredes de la ciudadela genovesa del siglo XVI son el telón de fondo de la ciudad vieja y ofrecen panoramas del puerto turístico lleno de yates.

Tiendas, bares y restaurantes dan a las calles estrechas y a la plaza principal, Place de la République.

Entre las playas de renombre en los alrededores, merece mencionarse la de Palombaggia, bordeada por un bosque de pinos, y la de Santa Giulia, similar a una laguna.

In the lively town of Porto Vecchio, ships from Civitavecchia and Naples and the ferries that from Santa Teresa di Gallura, in Sardinia, depart for Corsica through the famous mouths of Bonifacio.

From the small and picturesque marina, the center of nightlife full of clubs and discos, crossing very narrow alleys lined with rows of stone and granite houses, you reach the heart of the town, that is the citadel. But just move a few kilometers to find unique beaches and sea; in this guide we will find out what to do and what to see during a week's holiday in Porto Vecchio.

The area is a succession of captivating tongues of sand and a blue and transparent sea surrounded by unspoiled and often wild nature full of panoramic points, or coves hidden among the granite cliffs difficult to reach if not by boat, ideal for travelers who in Corsica they are looking for a holiday of peace and relaxation but also for those who love water sports or explore the seabed.

En la animada ciudad de Porto Vecchio, los barcos de Civitavecchia y Nápoles y los ferries que salen de Santa Teresa di Gallura, en Cerdeña, parten hacia Córcega a través de las famosas bocas de Bonifacio.
