A Discovered Drug can Kill Coronavirus in 48 hours

The research with Ivermectin, a medicine used in the treatment of other diseases, has been carried out by a group of Australian scientists.

Australian scientists have made a breakthrough in the fight with the coronavirus. An antiparasitic medicine called Ivermectin has been effective against COVID-19 in tests conducted by the leading of Dr. Wagstaff and Professor David Jans of Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute at Melbourne in collaboration with the Doherty Institute.

This drug Ivermectin is available worldwide. It has been recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It can succeed to kill the coronavirus in 48 hours as it has been verified in cell culture tests carried out by this group of Australian researchers.

More testing still needs to be done

This drug Ivermectin has been used successfully in the treatment of different viruses; such as Dengue, HIV, Influenza, and Zika. Although it will still be necessary to wait for tests with people to definitively certify its usefulness before Coronavirus (COVID-19).

"We have discovered that even a single dose could eliminate all the viral RNA within 48 hours. Within 24 hours there is a really significant reduction," say those responsible for the study in statements released by Times of India. They admit that it can still take months for Ivermectin to be applied to humans affected by the coronavirus. The scientists added, "We need to determine now if the dose that can be used in humans will be effective, that's the next step."
