One day Trips: Copenaghen

in OCD4 years ago (edited)

Here is finally the first chapter of this useful section thanks to which you will be able to visit some magnificent cities at best with little time and little money!

First some information about Copenhagen (which until last week I wrote Copenaghen):

-It has 569,000 inhabitants

-It has an average temperature of 8.0 ° C

-It is the 5th most expensive city in the world!

-It is connected via a bridge to the Swedish city of Malmo (Ibrahimovic's hometown)

-It owns the oldest playground in Europe

After some preliminary information, some personal tipp:

  1. As soon as you get off you must / can change the money, since Denmark uses the Corona (DKK) instead of the euro (€), the exchange rate is around: € 1 = 7DKK, or use the credit card / prepaid, however, by consulting the terms of use of your card. You may find yourself paying exchange fees. (For example ING DIRECT, it does not charge you any commission).

  2. Metro tickets: As I said above, Copenhagen is expensive and having a service like public transport costs. I therefore recommend that you have a day ticket (price 80DKK) so that you can always use it whenever you want (because single tickets have a duration of 1h and 30 min from the moment you buy them.

NB Tickets are paid in coins or cards, NOT with banknotes.

The itinerary that I recommend is

  • Christania
  • Mermaid
  • Kastellet
  • Amaliemborg palace
  • Nyhavn
  • Tivoli Gardens

Christania: Former military area. occupied in 1971 by an anarchist group called Squatters, it is a somewhat controversial area since it has become a free town, in which no taxes are paid, nor cars can circulate and with internal legislation. Anyone can visit the town characterized by murals, tags, warehouses and small refreshment centers, provided that: you don't run, you don't talk on your cell phone, but above all you don't shoot or make videos.

Little Mermaid: Commissioned by Carl Jacobsen, son of the founder of Carlsberg, because fascinated by the story of the Andersen brothers. The little mermaid since his birth has not had much luck, in fact in 1964 his head was sawed and then it was replaced with a copy. The symbolic value, however, remains the same!

Kastellett: Just 200m from the little mermaid there is a star-shaped former military zone, later transformed into a park. Cannons, military quarters and a beautiful Gothic-style church are still visible.

Amaliemborg Palace: By rolling south, you can get to the royal palace of Amaliemborg, where from 12 to 13 you can enjoy the changing of the guard. In reality it is not a building but 4 and each of them has a different function. Next to the royal palace (s), where you can see the jewels of the crown, there is the Marmor Kirke (the Marble Church), the largest church with a dome in Scandinavia.

At about 300 / 400m there is the ancient port also called Nyhavn, the most characteristic place in the capital, here we have eaten the local specialties, that is from the filthy ones.

At the end of the tour, a must is the Tivoli Gardens, the oldest playground in Europe, which is decorated with colored lights at night. The admission price is 110 DKK

OPTIONAL STOPS

Copenhagen is a city full of towers and visiting one gives you the opportunity to get an view of the city, my favorite is:

Rundetårn: former university astronomical observatory, readapted as a panoramic tower and public observatory, from which you can admire the beauty of the city and take magnificent photos. The main feature is that it does not have steps, but a spiral ramp and the possibility of seeing the bottom of the tower through transparent windows placed in the center of the tower (Yes, the center is empty!), Prepare your calves! Cost 40DKK

But there are also The Copenhagen Parliament Tower and the tower of the Church of Our Savior (in case very close to Cristiania)

NB In case you are hungry (and trust me, there will be) Copenhagen offers a wide range of pastry shops, with a lot of sweets, sweets (all obviously based on butter and lard), very good and very obese.

If you want to stay longer, my advice is to stay in a hostel:

  • Copenhagen Downtown Hostel
  • Urban House

How much did I spend?

Between flight, various trips, (local) food and entrance to various attractions: € 70
