The dog has been there for a long time. Some mean that the dog came for appoximately 6 000 years ago since the Creation. It was originally believed the first domesticated wolves appeared around 15,000 years ago in the Middle East. New evidence, however, suggests it was much earlier than that. Swedish geneticists are describing some findings of a 35,000-year-old Siberian wolf bone. They have concluded that canine domestication may have first occurred 27,000 to 40,000 years ago.

The dog has been the humans’ best friend for many years. And we like to pet with them, and to love them. And we are making them free going and running in the nature outside. And we walk with the dog, and we must keep the dog on a leash! And that is because the dog can bite in places that it should not bite on, and that can be humans as well.

With all animals we can examine the biology, and this is because we can ask about what, where, when, how, why and which implications the biology is working. What is really a dog, and why do I love it? And what can dogs do that humans cannot do? A dog has four legs, many have a tail, and they all have a snout. The dog has instincts, and some of them are even better than the humans’ ways of being.

We love the dog, because the dog loves us! And many dogs are liking to orient themselves when being out in the nature. And the dogs can discover many things, for instance birds and drugs. And they can also be used in controls to find articles and goods that people have brought ashore, and we cannot take too many articles and goods, if we cannot allow this according to norms, laws and rules. And we have dogs, for example the police, to sniff out illegalities. The dogs are there to be loved, and we can use them to detect things that humans either cannot do, or things that are a problem to find for humans.

There’s even scientific evidence supporting the bond between humans and dogs. When people look into each other’s eyes, we bond emotionally and release a hormone called oxytocin. When the dogs and the people gaze into each other’s eyes, the same hormone is released in both the humans and the dogs. Therefore, the humans and the dogs love each other in their eyes, and humans have the dogs because they appreciate their properties, and we can watch pictures and text about the dogs in the books and in the magazines at home and abroad.

Dog breeds vary in popularity. In the 1890s, Saint Bernards were the number 1 breed, but since the 1990s, Labrador Retrievers have been the favorite. There are around 900 dog types and breeds in the world today, but there are registered approximately 450 dog breeds, and among 250 dog breeds are located in Norway nowadays.

Dogs are either wild or calm, and humans buy their dogs at a kennel or they are buying them privately in household markets. And we are using the dogs to different purposes at home and outside the home, and dogs are eating dog food and bones. Dogs like to be private and to be out in the nature, and people love that we have dogs, and there are general and specific things with every dog type, and there are many breeds. And we find many properties and different instincts that the dogs are using, as they are coming in the animal nature.

But, where and when did the dogs really come the first time? Our four-legged friends descended from a Southeast Asian herd of wolves, and they lived for approximately 33 000 years ago. It was just for just 15 000 years ago, that the dogs spread themselves to the rest of the world, and the dogs became pets.
