The world inventions: The history and the case around the Jules Rimet trophy!
Jules Rimet was president in the French Football Association from 1919 to 1942, and in addition from 1944 to 1949. He was also president in FIFA from 1921 to 1954. According to the initiative from Jules Rimet the first world championship in football was arranged in 1930. The trophy was named after Rimet himself, and therefore the trophy of world championships is the Jules Rimet trophy. Jules Rimet was born on 14 October 1873 in Theuley in France, and he died on 16 October 1956 in Suresnes in France, and therefore he was 83 years old.
Brazil is has won the most world championships for nation with five world championships, and they have therefore received the Jules Rimet trophy several times. They are also the only nation that has participated in every World Cup playoffs. Germany has also qualified itself to every championships they have been able to play, and therefore they have just been away from the World Cup in 1930, sinde they told the world at that time not to participated in the championship. In 1950, where West Germany and East Germany did not take part in the World Cup due to the Second World War. Italy has also been included in every World Cup with the exception of three, in 1930 when they said no, and in 1958 and 2018 where they did not manage to qualify themselves to the World Cup. England signed out of FIFA in 1928 after disagreements about the funding of amateur players, and they debuted first in the World Cup in 1950. Argentina has participated in the most playoffs, and the only World Cup they have not managed to qualify themselves within in the World Cup in 1970. Moreover, they did not take part in the qualifications to the World Cup in 1938, 1950 and 1954.
In addition to Brazil’s five golds, Italy and Germany have four golds, and Argentina, France and Uruguay have two golds, and England and Spain have one gold each of them. Brazil, Germany, Spain and in some way Argentina, are the only countries that have won the World Cup in another continent than they are coming from. Argentina won in Mexico, and this country is a portion of North America, and this area is mainly considered as another continent than South America. Of these countries just mentioned, Argentina is the only country which has won the World Cup at home although all three have arranged, and Spain in the only country that has not won on its own continent.
The Jules Rimet trophy is given to the country winning the World Cup, and hence this trophy signals and symbolize that people – supporters, leaders and players – hold around the world, and there is a global understanding of where we are, and why we are as we are. We are coming from several continents in the world, and we play football and we become popular or not popular in the world. That is the meaning behind the trophy. The Jules Rimet trophy was first given in World Cup in football for men in 1930.
By the end of his career, Pelé had won three FIFA World Cups with Brazil, the most wins of the World Cup by any player. Pelé's first World Cup win came in Sweden in 1958, a tournament in which the phenom played an instrumental role. Accordingly, Pelé is the player in the world that has held the Jules Rimet trophy most times.
Remarkably, in 1983, 17 years after it first went missing in England, the Jules Rimet trophy was stolen again. The second theft occurred in Brazil and it has never been found since, disappearing into the ether of speculation and intrigue. The trophy is hollow and made of 18-carat gold, meaning that in most respects the World Cup is not solid gold. But it has much status to win the World Cup, and the Jules Rimet trophy had a star in the world of the players. And we should just win what is possible to win, and this trophy was famous!
