On giving our memories to Thorkild Stray: His death in 1970, and the Southern Norway as where he came from, and he was an actor in Jennings!
We are many people being engaged with Jennings, and that Thorkild Stray was just 22 years old. He died in a tragic car accident in Farvannet in Songdalen nearby Kristiansand on 18 September 1970. He was born on 14 July 1948. I have passed this area several times, also on bicycle! And the speed was too great on the car and no fenders were there, and he went with his car out in the cold water in Farvannet! This was tragic, and many people remember him as “Soerlandet” (The Southern Norway) as an actor in the series called for Jennings. Thorkild was a nice guy, and many of us all coming from Soerlandet have learned to enjoy him and to appreciate him as the typical person coming from the Southern Part of Norway.
Thorkild Stray was a Norwegian actor. He was known for the role as Soerlandet in three feature films about Jennings. These films were: «Jennings & Co.», «Jennings of course!» and «Jennings falling in love!» Soerlandet or Thorkild Stray is considered as having one of the main roles in «Jennings falling in love!». Thorkild Stray was admired by many people, and he was typical for people coming from the Southern Part of Norway, and giving typical comments in the films where he was an actor. He died too young, and many people still remember him. And we will always remember and be in memory for Thorkild Stray!
Thorkild Stray was visible as an actor, and we find him in the Norwegian Film Institute and in the newspaper called for Aftenposten. Jennings was played by Rolf Kirkvaag jr. and Ole Enger. Bodø was played by Knut Eide, Bergen was played by Thor-Erik Thorbjørnsen, Nøtterø was played by Didrik Arnesen, Soerlandet was played by Thorkild Stray, Orkanger was played by John Olav Togstad, Stavanger was played by Ingmar Wareng, lector Toerrdal was played by Gisle Straume, lector Brandt was played by Arne Lie, headmasster Ulrichsen was played by Carsten Winger, madam Madsen was played by Ragnhild Michelsen, the grandmother to Bodoe was Erna Schoeyen, lector B.F. Toerrdal was played by Rolf Just Nilsen, and the fire chief was played by Willie Hoel. And not all the persons were represented in all the films. In addition to the films we have mentioned with Jennings, we also have the film: «Jennings at sea». We also call Jennings for Stompa!
Many people like these films with Jennings, and the idea was governing and being in a school, a typical school where one should learn things, and where homework where a must. We need knowledges of many types, and for general and specific purposes, and we need knowledges and talents at many places in public organizations and in private businesses. So, sometimes we have knowledges, and sometimes we have not, and we must learn enough things to know how to do things and why we are doing these things as we are! But competence, knowledges and research backgrounds are important, and it is necessary to know many things today, and we cannot require that all persons know all things in science, and science comes from the word «scire» meaning to know things. And any dissertation is either visible, or it is something you write to survive and to get a position at a university or at a college. We should not ignore knowledges and study programs and Nobel Prizes, and hence some of us know that which is at the expense of the security of the kingdom. And we should make our applications where we want to be, and we should develop any organizations with higher quantity and quality about how to be. The thing is to be and not to be, and nobody is asking for us when we are died.
Thorkild Stray was as all other pupils being in the school and doing different things, and therefore there had to be persons in different positions where, and the power positions we find in the government and in the parliament, and we must use our study programs, also Higher Department from NHH in Bergen. And therefore, many of us react when there is ignorance among the people. We cannot be as all people, but we should use our knowledges as we have, and we should always develop ourselves further in all kinds of future!
