Geek Pride Day | "What is It to be a nerd?"

Today I bring my contest entry from our friend @wiseagent. Basically he wants to know what we think it is to be a nerd. Run because there is still time to participate. More details you can check here.
What does it mean to be a nerd? What can this word mean to several people? Do you have a market?
Well, this is a question that can be answered in several ways, right? If we take into account that the nerd of 30 or 50 years ago is not practically the same as today, I would already have a discussion on the topic, but we will go into the subject of the contest.
Forget the dictionary ... and the stereotypes that it is a "thin" person, unwanted and introverted or worse, a socially inconsistent person. Being a nerd is not simply an intelligent person and goes far beyond that. Maybe you can be one and still don't know.
Movies, series, anime, games, cosplays, clothes, comics ... everything is consumed with passion in the nerdy universe. The geek market as it is popularly called today moves billions ($$$) and growth is exponential. Being a nerd doesn't have a defined age, it can be a child, young and adult. Everyone in the same place having fun and having unique experiences.
In Brazil, for example, according to experts, the geek market in 2019 moved around US$ 24 billion. Nowadays, investing in a geek space in a well-populated city can generate a lot of profit, as the nerd always wants to consume everything he likes. The Star Wars films and all of Heóis are beautiful examples of a lot of abundance and wealth.
This month of May, more precisely today (25), is celebrated the Geek Pride Day or better saying, Towel Day for the oldest. The reason may be due to the fact that in 1977, which premiered Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. And every self-respecting nerd has marathoned the three trilogies more than once right? (Right!).
Well, I particularly like and consume a lot of this vast and beautiful universe. I love sci-fi, fantasy, hero films and I like to collect Pokémon TCG cards for example. And that passion I already pass to my two children. And how good it is to watch a good movie accompanied with the family, isn't it?
So friends, the nerd community has been around for a long time and today people are more interested in things from nerd culture. Prejudice has decreased and this is very good. And if you like it too and go after those contents, leave it there in the comments.

O que é ser nerd? O que essa palavra pode significar para várias pessoas? Tem mercado?
Bem, essa é uma pergunta que pode ser respondida por várias vertentes certo? Se levarmos em consideração que o nerd de 30 ou 50 anos atrás não é praticamente o mesmo de hoje, já daria uma discussão sobre o tema, mas iremos entrar no assunto do contest.
Esqueçam o dicionário... e os esteriótipos de que se trata de uma pessoa "magra", desejeitada e intrivertida ou pior, de uma pessoa socialmente incoetentes. Ser nerd não é simplesmente uma pessoa inteligente e vai muito além disso. Talvez você pode ser até um e ainda não sabe.
Mercado de bilhões
Filmes, séries, animes, games, cosplays, roupas, quadrinhos... tudo é consumido com paixão no universo nerd. O mercado geek como é popurlamente chamado nos dias de hoje move bilhões ($$$) e o crescimento é exponencial. Ser nerd não tem uma idade definida, pode ser criança, jovem e adulto. Todos em um mesmo lugar se divertindo e vivendo experiências únicas.
No Brasil por exemplo, segundo especialistas o mercado geek movimentou em 2019 cerca de R$ 138 bilhões . Hoje em dia, investir em um espaço geek numa cidade bem povoada pode gerar bastante lucro, pois o nerd sempre quer consumir tudo o que gosta. Os filmes de Star Wars e todos de Heóis são belos exemplos de muita fartura e riqueza.
Neste mês de maio, mais precisamente hoje (25), é comemorado o Dia do Orgulho Geek ou melhor dizendo, Dia da Toalha para os mais antigos. O motivo pode ser pelo fato de que em 1977, que estreava Star Wars: Episódio IV — Uma Nova Esperança. E todo nerd que se preze já maratonou as três trilogias mais de uma vez certo? (Certo!).
Bem, eu particularmente gosto e consumo muita coisa deste vasto e belíssimo universo. Adoro filmes de ficção científica, fantasia, de heróis e gosto de colecionar por exemplo cartas de Pokémon TCG. E essa paixão já passo para os meus dois filhos. E como é bom assitir um bom filme acompanhado com a família não é mesmo?
Então amigos, a comunidade nerd já existe há muito tempo e hoje as pessoas se interessam mais de coisas da cultura nerd. O preconceito diminuiu e isso é muito bom. E se você gosta também e vai atrás desses conteúdos, deixe aí nos comentários.
