The Matrix cave - Dialogue with a Myth.

Hello to all dear friends and welcome back to my blog.

From the cave you can go out or stay inside to die.

Today I share with you one of my paintings inspired by one of the most famous myths in history written by the philosopher Plato: the myth of the cave.

An allegory of knowledge that tells how one becomes a philosopher.

The cave has numerous meanings and is a symbol found in many myths.

I am a fan of Greek history and this story by Plato comes to mind whenever I think about the world of knowledge.

Plato, a disciple of Socrates, witnesses the death sentence of the Master, forced to drink the hemlock.
Plato honors and decides to the great philosopher, his teacher, this story present in the VII book of the Republic.

I start by saying that the cave is connected to Mother Earth in a natural way, being a geological part of it.

The cave is an earthly myth that takes us to the skies of knowledge.

The cave has only one access and therefore only one way out.

Numerous initiation rites take place inside the cave, those who are inside for a certain period must be in the dark with a fair amount of water and food.

You are in the dark!

You must overcome and defeat your fears, your ghosts through your inner exploration without external distractions.

Try to know yourself inside a place to explore, without light, in an underground world, inside the womb of Mother Earth.

For Jung the cave is the archetype of the womb, in which you are alone with yourself and you will remain so until you come out victorious or defeated!

From the cave you can be reborn or die forever inside it which becomes the cave of death.

It is a symbol of life, as a passage to light, or of death, as a place for mortal remains.

For Plato the myth of the cave is the allegory of climbing for the correct administration of a city through free thought and ethics.
In the seventh book of the Republic the famous philosopher deals with the problem of justice connected to the government of a city.

The Republic is the best form of political organization, but to get it you need to acquire knowledge.

In the cave you are in the dark, you do not have the light to see, nor to know, therefore you must pass a period of training, helped by yourself or a guide.

The story tells of a few prisoners locked up since birth in a cave, in the dark and in front of them they see only shadows projected on a wall.

For prisoners that is reality, in the dark and formed by the projections of shadows, they cannot imagine what happens outside their space, behind them.

They can only look in one direction, in front of them, and have a wall with the projections of shadows from other human figures who are outside the cave.

They are chained and unable to turn around, the shadows for them are the objective reality!

Suddenly, one of them frees himself from the chains, gets up and goes towards the entrance (exit) of the cave.

He remains dazzled by the sunlight and would like to go back, he is debated by the dilemma.
He decides to slowly get used to the following steps:

• look at the sky and the stars at night, to get used to his eyes.
• look at the reflections of all things on the water
• get his eyes used to being able to look directly at the light of day.

So the time has come to stare directly at the sun, without fear of being blind.

The phenomenon of knowledge takes place in all its rite.

The prisoner is happy with his new condition, he has come out of his state of animality in which he had been pouring into the cave for some time.

With new energy and enthusiasm, he wants to pass on his experience to the other prisoners.

He goes back into the darkness of the cave but moves awkwardly, stumbling and falling over and over again.

His companions mock him, find him ridiculous and don't believe him, they will kill him despite the fact that he pities them for their ignorance.

Plato links this extraordinary myth to his theory of the Reality of Things and connects it to the sixth book with the Theory of the Line where he explains that philosophy together with the other sciences can play a decisive role for knowledge.

I leave you some comments about it, not before telling you that a Cult film in the history of cinema: Matrix (the first for me is the best) has in its plot the myth of Plato's cave.

I can summarize it in the question they ask: "do you take the red pill or the blue pill?"
We live trapped in a reality that is inside a sphere where other worlds are present.

La caverna di Matrix - Dialogo con un Mito

Ciao a tutti cari amici e ben tornati sul mio blog.

Dalla caverna puoi uscire oppure resti dentro a morire.

Oggi condivido con voi un mio dipinto ispiratomi da uno dei più famosi miti della storia scritto dal filosofo Platone: il mito della caverna.

Una allegoria della conoscenza che racconta come si diventa fiolosofi.

La caverna ha numerosi significati ed è un simbolo presente in moltissimi miti.

Sono un appassionato di storia Greca e questo racconto di Platone mi ritorna in mente ogni qualvolta penso alla sfera della conoscenza del mondo.

Platone, discepolo di Socrate, assiste alla condanna a morte del Maestro, costretto a bere la Cicuta.
Platone onora e dedca al grande filosofo, suo maestro, questo racconto presente nel VII libro della Repubblica.

Comincio col dire che la caverna è collegata alla Madre Terra in modo naturale, essendo una parte geologica di essa.

La caverna è un mito terrestre che ci porta verso i cieli della conoscenza.

L'antro ha un solo accesso e pertanto una sola via di uscita.

All'interno della caverna avvengono numerosi riti di iniziazione, chi è dentro per un certo periodo deve stare al buio con una giusta quantità di acqua e cibo.

Sei al buio!

Devi superare e sconfiggere le tue paure, i tuoi fantasmi attraverso la tua esplorazione interiore senza distrazioni esterne.

Cerchi di conoscere te stesso dentro un posto da esplorare, senza luce, in un mondo sotterraneo, dentro l'utero della Madre Terra.

Per Jung la caverna è l'archetipo del grembo materno, nella quale sei solo con te stesso e lo rimarrai fino a quando non ne uscirai vincitore o sconfitto!

Dalla caverna puoi rinascere o morire per sempre dentro di essa che diventa l'antro della morte. Essa è simbolo di vita, come passaggio alla luce, o di morte, come luogo per le spoglie mortali.

Per Platone il mito della caverna è l'allegoria alla scalata per l'amministrazione corretta di una città attraverso il libero pensiero e l'etica.
Nel VII libro della Repubblica il celebre filosofo affronta il problema della Giustizia collegata al governo di una città.
La Repubblica è la forma migliore di organizzazione politica, ma per arrivare ad ottenerla devi acquisire la conoscenza.

Nella caverna sei al buio, non hai la luce per vedere, ne per conoscere, quindi devi superare un periodo di formazione, aiutato da te stesso o da una guida.

La storia racconta di un alcuni prigionieri rinchiusi fin dalla nascita in una caverna, al buio e davanti a loro vedono solo ombre proiettate su un muro.

Per i prigionieri quella è la realtà, nel buio e formata dalle proiezioni di ombre, essi non possono immaginare ciò che accade al di fuori dal loro spazio, dietro di loro.

Possono solo guardare in una direzione, davanti a loro, ed hanno un muro con le proiezioni di ombre di altre figure umane che stanno al di fuori della caverna. Sono incatenati e impossibilitati a voltarsi, le ombre per loro sono la realtà oggettiva!
Ad un tratto, uno di loro si libera dalle catene, si alza e va verso l'entrata (uscita) della caverna.

Resta abbagliato dalla luce del Sole e vorrebbe tornare indietro, è dibattuto dal dilemma.
Decide di abituarsi lentamente con i seguenti passi:

• guardare il cielo e le stelle di notte, per abituare i suoi occhi.
• guardare i riflessi di tutte le cose sull'acqua
• abituare i suoi occhi fino a riuscire a guardare direttamente le cose alla luce del giorno.

Arriva dunque il momento di fissare direttamente il Sole, senza paura di restare cieco.

Il fenomeno della conoscenza si compie in tutto il suo rito!

Il prigioniero è felice della sua nuova condizione, è uscito dal suo stato di animalità in cui versava da tempo nella caverna. Con nuova energia ed entusiasmo vuole trasmettere la sua esperienza agli altri prigionieri.

Ritorna dentro il buio della caverna ma si muove goffamente, inciampando e cadendo in continuazione. I suoi compagni lo deridono, lo trovano ridicolo e non gli credono, lo uccideranno nonostante lui provi pietà per la loro ignoranza.

Platone lega questo mito straordinario alla sua teoria della Realtà delle Cose e lo collega al sesto libro con la Teoria della Linea dove spiega che la filosofia insieme alle altre scienze, può esercitare un ruolo determinante per la conoscenza.

Lascio a voi qualche commento a riguardo, non prima di dirvi che un film Cult della storia del cinema: Matrix (il primo per me è il massimo) ha nella sua trama il mito della caverna di Platone.

Lo posso riassumere nella domanda che si pongono: "prendi la pillola rossa o la pillola blu?"
Viviamo intrappolati in una realtà che è dentro una sfera dove altri mondi sono presenti.

Come sappiamo qual'è veramente la nostra realtà?
