Hunger is a big problem all over the world. For the developing countries, it is one of the major problem.

To address the issue, we were trying our best from our Volunteering organization Hridmajhare. We are a group of eight volunteers.

We had arranged a community kitchen in Jhargram. Jhargram is one of the most under developed region within our state. The major percentage of the population belongs from tribals. As the area is not very appropriate for agriculture due to soil condition - it is difficult to sow crop in that region. There is no big industry present in the area. Tourism is also not very developed. Hence, it becomes difficult for the locals to earn their livelihood.

The expense amount was contributed from our end as well as donated by our friends.

Before we proceed, we connected with the local authority and get go ahead from them.

The menu for the community kitchen was very simple. It consist of Khichuri (mixture of rice and lentil boiled together) and cabbage-curry.

We asked the kids to have the lunch first, then the older people, and then the adults. We also ensured to send the foods for the very old people who are unable to move out from their house and join in the meal.

When the lunch for almost everyone of the locality is completed, the volunteers also joined the remaining people waiting to have the lunch. We also requested the cook to seat with us and we all had our lunch together.

The villagers who already had completed their lunch took the ownership of serving the food for this last batch.

The menu is of only two items, but It was a pleasure to have the lunch together with the villagers. They were also very happy for the meal. We were tired, but the joy of doing good for the community made us satisfied at the end of the day.
