Clean water and proper sanitation are one of the basic human needs. The 6th goal of the SDGs points is the achievement of clean water and proper sanitation equitably. In realizing this, the participation of all parties is needed.

Clean water and sanitation are the most important programs to support the sustainability of human life. As quoted from the official BAPPENAS page, it was reported that the World Bank in 2014 warned that 780 million people do not have access to clean water and more than 2 billion people on earth do not have access to sanitation. As a result, thousands of lives are lost every day and material losses are up to 7 percent of the world's.

Sanitation, as well as clean water, are specifically discussed in the goals of the six SDGs, although it should be noted that these goals are actually a unity. Therefore, stakeholders must have responsibility in implementing this program. Achieving clean water and proper sanitation is one part of achieving a prosperous life.

The first step we take is to build awareness of all parties in our environment to play an active role in realizing the achievement of the SDGs. We continue to encourage various forms of participation, such as bringing in researchers and survey teams. In addition, efforts that need to be made are to build cooperation and invite donors.

Today, one of the clean water and sanitation programs was realized in my village. This brought good news to all the people in the village. Our village is located in the coastal area of North Aceh district. Our village is called the village of Kuta Glumpang, the address is listed on my photo.

In this village, the majority of the population work as fishermen and farmers. A profession that only relies on the sea and rice fields with an income that is only enough to fulfill daily life. The average population is in the middle poverty line.

In addition, there are also a number of people who work as traders. The average school graduation rate is at the Junior High School level. In 2004, my village was ravaged by the tsunami that killed dozens of villagers and caused material losses.

In our village there is a river that flows upstream. This river is a source of drinking water. Sometimes when it rains, the river water looks brown and full of mud. Meanwhile, the well water in some residents' houses also looks yellow and cloudy.

There is a borehole here, but the water looks oily. Drilling boreholes is not the right solution, besides the impact of releasing water mixed with oil, it can also be expensive. The solution is to purify the well water that already exists in the village center.

Therefore, the support of this program is very helpful to support the water needs in our village. Our clean water and sanitation program is carried out in the village center which is directly adjacent to the water reservoir. This location is a place of worship and a place for village deliberations.

We bring in stakeholders who bring new breakthroughs for our village. This program was initiated in collaboration with the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Unsyiah Engineering Faculty. This program is also supported by our community. Because this will have a good impact on the availability of clean water in our village.

There are two large orange tubs that can hold 1000 liters of water. A number of other tools are also such as pipes to help the flow of water to the reservoir. For pumping water, an electric water pump is used. Other materials used to filter water are palm fiber, gravel, charcoal, and sand.

Overall, this program can cost more than 20 Million Rupiah. However, material and financial are not the main obstacles for us to make changes. Collaboration, campaigns, research and stakeholder support will provide opportunities for us to achieve these values.

In this post I do not discuss the mechanisms and methods of water filtration specifically. There are various models and methods of water filtration that can be studied and you can easily find on the internet. However, I focus more on this post to move the birth of a positive movement initiated by Steemian.

Positive movements will have an impact on supporting human survival. This will have an impact on the balance between humans and natural resources. Let's start doing something to protect our earth.
