A greeting to all my Stemians friends and all the colleagues who make life in this great community #SteemShip. Excited to be able to participate in this contest, which invites us to speak in relation to our favorite fish or shellfish; This time I will talk about the seafood soup.

Seafood stew is a very popular dish on the Venezuelan coasts, especially in the eastern part of the country; Integrate the flavors of seafood into a kind of soup with high calorie and protein content.

EnIt is important to note that the first known seafood soup recipe dates back to the 19th century, in France, in the fishing communities, who had the idea of ​​adding to a thick stew, a soup, all freshly caught fish, regardless of the type of fish.

In the case of the American continent, fishermen used to cook seafood soup and used ingredients such as mussels and clams; this is how each region has its own tradition and its own methods of doing it.

Shrimp, mussels, crabs, clams and other shellfish, combined with tomatoes, chilies and epazote, acquire a very particular flavor. Next I explain the easy preparation of this dish:

The ingredients to use are:
  • 1 kg of shellfish (shrimp, squid, clams, mussels).
  • 4 large prawns.
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil.
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed.
  • 2 finely chopped onions.
  • 3 finely chopped red bell peppers.
  • 1 tomato finely chopped.
  • 2 cups of rice.
  • 8 cups of fish consommé already colored with Carmencita or Turmeric.
  • 200 gr of minced hake.
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper.
  • 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 1 sprig of coriander, chopped.
  • 1 cup of peas.

The first thing to do is wash the shellfish with enough water and reserve; then we proceed to fry in a pot with oil, garlic, onion, paprika and tomato, when they have crystallized, about 3 minutes; Add the seafood to the sauce and sauté for 3 more minutes.

Later, the rice is incorporated, mixing the preparation very well, then the fish consommé. Boil for about 5 minutes and add the diced fish, stir the mixture so that it takes color and shape.

Finally, we add the pepper and salt if necessary. Before serving, add a little cilantro to taste and peas for garnish.

This is an excellent seafood dish, and it is without a doubt my favorite and easily prepared in our homes; I really enjoy preparing it with my family on special occasions.
