Explain Plagiarism

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is an act of stealing someone else work and presenting that as your own. Plagiarism is an unethical activity where a person copies an author's work without taking permission and giving credit to its original author.

Plagiarism may seem a very good and easy way to wind up your work in a short time but it in actuality is a very dangerous thing because the habit of doing plagiarism may destroy all your creative skills. A person with unique ideas and thoughts is always known as intelligent and exceptional at his working place. Doing plagiarism is not just unfair for the original author but also highly harmful for the plagiarist himself. Because doing plagiarism is very easy but its consequences are very hard.

Sometimes this may happen that the copied work becomes more popular and the plagiarist takes the high reward for that. A person took a long time to do the research and a plagiarist just takes his ideas, spins some works, and presents that as his own. They get the whole credit of that masterpiece without burning his days and nights and the one who has burnt sometimes is not as much appreciated as the plagiarist.

Types of Plagiarism

  • Direct Plagiarism:
When you copy someone else's work as it is without giving him credit, it is known as direct plagiarism.

  • Self- Plagiarism:
When you resubmit the same task twice, it is known as Self-plagiarism. Suppose you have been given the task of writing about Reptiles in a class. You work and submit your own work. But the same topic assignment is given to you in another class after some time. If you now submit your old work or copy from your own old work, it will be then counted as Self-plagiarism.

How to avoid Plagiarism

  • CITE THE SOURCE

In your composition, add a citation that distinguishes the complete name of the source, and some other reference highlight that is required by the style direct you stick to when alluding to a thought or phrasing that isn't your own.

  • PARAPHRASING

Paraphrasing is changing the thoughts or information on a source into your own terms, without modifying its unique circumstance. Be that as it may, be cautious — rewording can fall into copyright infringement whenever done inaccurately.

  • PRESENT YOUR OWN IDEAS

Rather than parroting the considerations or expressions of the source, examine what you need to say about it. Mention to yourself what another perspective or point you may add to your composing that is totally your own. Remember that on the off chance that you allude to the thoughts or expressions of a source to outline your own point, you will likewise have to apply the above rules to forestall plagiarization.
