Peace #Steemians, after successfully completing my previous task, i am honoured to be left with the final task achievement; Achievement 6.

How does curation and voting work in steem?

Whenever a post is uploaded on the steemit platform, the uploader is called the author and the people whose posts are voted (either upvote or downvote) are known as curators.
To up vote a post you simply click the green upward facing arrow beneath the post and to downpost a post you click the downward red facing arrow beneath the post.

One major advantage of this blockchain is that it's users are rewarded for creating content or voting content in the following ways; steem, SBD and Tron.
Post are being paid out after 7 days and the rewards are shared equally (50/50) between author of content and curators.

What happens when you vote a post between 5 minutes of posting.

Voting a post within 5 minutes of posting leads to the loss of some partial benefits. This lost reward goes to the reward pool.
Another point to be taken into consideration here is that the earlier a vote is made on a post the higher the rewards lost.

If the vote is made within 1 minute then only 20 % of the reward will be earned.
If the vote is made within 2 minutes then 40% of the reward will be earned.

If it made within 3 minutes after posting then 60% of the reward will be earned and as the others, the remaining percentage lost will be sent to the reward pool.
If a vote is made 4 minutes after a post then only 80% of the reward will be earned implying 20 percent will be lost. But if the vote is made 5 minutes or more after posting then all the full reward will be earned.

Witnesses: How and who to vote as witnesses

On steemit, witnesses are people who have been elected by communities to help in the creation of blocks. Their reward for every block created is steem power.

It requires just logging into the "https://steemit.com/~witnesses" site then vote by clicking on the upward upvote on your active witness displayed.

Who to vote as a witness

This decision rests solely upon the owner of the account as they decide to vote however they deem fit.

Communities

A Community in steem is simply a group in which one can post content or material.
Joining a communities can be for different reasons like;

• In order to participate in a contest
• Share ideas
  Taking the "Explore Communities" takes you to a plethora of communities for you to join at your convenience.

Which communities to join

Joining communities in steem is solely based on the person involved.
For example, new comers are expected to join "Newcomers' Community" and "Steem Nusery" in other to get the vital basic orientation on how to go about steemit. Mentors as well guide and direct them on which communities to be part of.


If the user wishes to share knowledge, skills, participate in contests and earn, they can join certain communities like "Steem crypto academy" and "Skillshare".

Because steemit does not support messaging, third party application are used in communities. This is basically for the communication between members;
