BASIC SECURITY ON STEEMIT

Good day steemians,
I want to write about the basic security on steemit. When registering on Steemit, I was asked to enter my username, followed by entering my email address and then the verification number sent to the email I used when registering, after that I entered my Phone number and the verification code sent to my phone by steemit. After the registration I received a password along with all other security keys in PDF format which I saved to my email address. In the PDF file, there are different security keys that are very private and consist of:

1. Private posting key
2. Private Active key
3. Private owner key
4. Private Memo key
5. Tron private key
6. Tron public key

1. PRIVATE POSTING KEY

The private posting key is used to log in daily posts, create and edit post, share post, vote, reply comments and to follow and unfollow friends.

2. PRIVATE ACTIVE KEY

The private active key is used to transfer tokens from one account to another, to power up and down, convert steem dollars and to withdraw steem.

3. PRIVATE OWNER KEY

The private owner key is used when an account has issues e.g when an account is hacked, the private owner key can be used to recover the hacked account. The private owner key is the strongest and most important key in steemit since it can be used to change other security keys in steemit.

4. PRIVATE MEMO KEY

The private Memo key is used to transfer steem and steem dollar from one steemit account to another steemit account or to a blockchain account

5. TRON PRIVATE KEY

Tron is a TRX asset used to make transactions and send TRX assets to the blockchain.

6. TRON PUBLIC KEY

The Tron public key or tron address is used for transfers. The public key is the address you send the tokens to.

HOW TO TRANSFER STEEM TO ANOTHER STEEMIT USER ACCOUNT

• click on your profile photo

• open wallet

• log in to your wallet using the private active
key

• click on steem amount

• select transfer

• fill the form that appears after clicking transfer which include, steemit account name (this will be filled automatically), name of the account receiving the steem, number of steem to be sent ( amount column ), fill your memo key (memo column)

• click next and the transfer is done

POWER UP AND POWER DOWN

Steem Power is what gives you influence on Steemit. The more SP you have, the more money you give to authors with an upvote as well as the greater the curation rewards you can earn. There is a very small 'interest' rate earned by holding steem Power. Converting stee. to SP is called powering up.

To power down is Withdrawing steem power from your steemit account which requires you to initiate a process so called Power Down that starts converting your steem power to steem tokens that you can transfer to other users or withdraw and sell.
