Greetings to everyone on this great platform, I am here once again to write and submit my achievement 3 task post. I have been able to complete my achievement 1 & 2 task and I am glad to continue with my subsequent tasks. Without much ado, I would go straight to the point.

What is Plagiarism?

---

An act is considered to be plagiarism when someone copy's the work of another author and submits it as his/her own work without citing the source of content or without the permission of the original author. Mostly the plagiarist does this activity with the intention of being the author of the article or content. Plagiarism is one of the most frowned acts on the steemit blockchain and I hope to stay away from it to the best of my ability. Let's look at the types of plagiarism we have below here in my article.

Types of Plagiarism

1.Self Plagiarism:- Self-plagiarism is a type of plagiarism that takes place when someone reuses his/her own work in a different article and does not cite the source of the previous work. This type of plagiarism is considered to be moderate and it's not considered a serious crime.

2.Paraphrasing Plagiarism:- Paraphrasing plagiarism refers to the type of plagiarism whereby a user or an author rephrases the text or content of another author's work and submits it as his/her own work without citing the source of the text copied. This type of plagiarism is considered to be a serious act and must be abstained from it.

3.Verbatim Plagiarism:- Verbatim Plagiarism is a type of plagiarism whereby one directly copies the text or a passage from another author's work without citing the source of the work. This type of plagiarism is considered a serious act and must also be avoided or abstained from.

4.Mosaic Plagiarism:- Mosaic plagiarism is a type of plagiarism whereby the user copies different ideas from different texts or contents without citing the sources of the texts. This is also a serious type of plagiarism and we must abstain from it.

5.Global Plagiarism:- Global plagiarism is a type of plagiarism whereby a person copies the whole text or content of another author's work without citing the source of the article. It is a very severe type of plagiarism that must be abstained from.

The Effects/Consequences of Plagiarism

1. It retards the good image of a person when he/she is being caught in such an act.

2. Plagiarism leads to the failure of one's activity.

3. Plagiarism reduces one's reputation.

4. When caught in the act of plagiarism on the steem blockchain, you would permanently be blacklisted or muted from the community.

5. Your articles would be downvoted when spotted plagiarized.

6. It can lead to suspension too.

How to Prevent or stay away from Plagiarism

In order to produce plagiarism-free content on the steem blockchain network, then the following steps should be implied;

1. Keep track of the sources you consult in your research.
2. Paraphrase or quote from your sources (and add your own ideas).
3. Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list.
4. Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.

Citation

The citation refers to the manner of bringing to the attention of the readers that some contents, texts, paragraph, passages or idea is taken from a different source and it wasn't your own idea.

Types of Citation Style

The following include the citation styles we have and they are three:

1. Modern Language Association (MLA)

2. American Psychological Association (APA)

3. Chicago or Turabian Style

I have the goal to be a medical laboratory scientist in the near future. "A medical laboratory scientist (MLS), also known as a medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist, works to analyze a variety of biological specimens. They are responsible for performing scientific testing on samples and reporting results to physicians."source

From the above passage we realized that the original sentence is the only one which is quoted below;

I have the goal to be a medical laboratory scientist in the near future.

The next sentence that follows was taken from the site and I cited the source as indicated below;
