Achievement 1 - @writesmith: My Introduction (28 -05 -2021)
Hi Everyone! Hi Steemit!
I'm Ahmed, and I want to be known as @writesmith here on steemit. I'm new. I must confess it took a while before I have my mind made up finally to join steemit. Truth is, I was a bit skeptical, and I still am because I really don't know where or if I would fit in. I guess going to places you've never been to before can sometimes create a phobia all on it own. Lest I forget, I am from Nigeria.
Education & Work Experience
I graduated from the University (The Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria) in 2019 with a B.Tech degree in Project Management Technology.
I completed my one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in 2020, where I served my fatherland to the best of my ability. I also actively participated in activities relating to sustainable development as a member of the NYSC SDGs. It was fun while it lasted. And I'm currently searching for NGOs to adopt to further my earnest desire to solve problems plaguing my immediate community. I see myself extending that same reach to solving global issues too.
I once interned in a construction company as a construction project manager. I thought I knew what I wanted or where I wanted to be at the time. However, it turns out that I'm so in love with IT technologies and solutions and I wanted to be a part of that.
It appears my dream came to pass as I am currently an intern in one remarkable IT company as a Software Project Management Intern, and I really hope to get the best out of it. You know, add to my wealth of experience, gain new experience, and to experience big time what it's like making real life decisions in the IT field.
So far it's very enjoyable, and some of my experiences and knowledge I hope to share with the people of this platform. Steemit in the coming days.
Family
Family is everything. I come from a family of 5, and I am the middle guy. I have some older siblings and some younger sibling. I kind of like the position I hold in the hierarchy.
Passion
I'm passionate about lots of things, and I feel like I am in a tight spot anytime I'm confronted with the need to choose from the stuffs I love doing or working on.
I like writing. I don't think I can do without writing. I always manage to pen down some of my most beautiful moments, and even the sad ones. I only recently just summoned enough courage to share some of those contents with a third party because they are what I considered "sacred"- a part of me, kind of. But I also realize there lies the strength, in sharing those moments- good or bad with amazing people. I like to believe my contents will interest the people here.
I like drawing too. I was forced to stop giving drawing so much of my attention at a very tender age, because a good number of people around me then don't see it as a sustainable way of life. I was brought up to pick interest in things of science and engineering. Despite all that, I couldn't let go totally. I still draw sometimes. If I wasn't discouraged at such a young age when my passion was still so lit, I'd have become some guru. I will share some of my drawings from time to time here.
One of my most cherished moment is when I succeed in crafting heartfelt and beautiful poetries. There's this feeling of fulfilment after each success. And they speak to me in ways that I sometimes can't comprehend. What is poetry to me? A safe haven! Where I go to and express exactly how I felt about a subject matter, happenings around me, and conjure some powerful imageries strictly from imagination. Being a creative has bring me sense of fulfilment often times than not.
How Did I Get To Know About Steemit!
I have friends that have been on steemit for quite a while now. Well, I only got to know about it in my recent discussion with @oluwashinaayomi. I guess he has been trying to bring me onboard since last year but never gave him the chance. But I'm glad I listened this time around. They explained that there's just so much possibilities with steemit. I guess they are right when they say, "friend in need is a friend indeed". Friends who connect us to opportunities are often rare.
Why @writesmith?
I coined that from some of the words we've grown accustomed to in the dictionary. Words like blacksmith, goldsmith, wordsmith etc. I chose @writesmith because I want to be well known by my craft and creativity in writing. I hope to create well meaning and engaging contents on this platform. Though right now, I don't know where to start from just yet, but I believe I will figure that part out bit by bit.
What More To Know About Me?
I like taking photographs with family and friends. Most times, I simply forget to take some personal shots. Lol.
You are welcome onboard buddy! Simply follow the advice from @ngoenyi and you will be just fine.
Glad to have you here finally!
Thanks boss!
