Achievement 2 @william8wayward Task: Basic Security on Steem

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Greetings dear Steemians

this is my 2nd attempt

I hope this attempt to complete step 2 of the newcomers' verification process is found acceptable. I apologize for the inadequacy of my previous attempt

There are a few different communities I stay active in here on the great steemit platform, and I learn a little more each day. That being said, I prefer to finish what I start whenever tenable. It is in the spirit of finishing what I set out to do that I come to you today.

Lastly before I address the questions for this verification step, I would like to heartfully thank @steemchiller. Thank you, sir. Your website SteemWorld is a great service that has taught me many things, some I which I will be writing about below.

So, without further ado:

Question 1:

Have you retrieved all your keys on Steem?

To the best of my knowledge, yes. I have a PDF document downloaded that includes my private active key, my private posting key, my private memo key, and my private owner key. Also included in this file are the master password and 4 "Steemit Public Keys."

The one I copy-and-paste for use on a regular basis is the private active key.

I have the Master Password written down and safely stored in multiple locations.

Question 2:

Do you know each of these keys functions and restrictions?

Master Password is the password that generated all the other passwords, and it is not to be shared.

Private Active Key is the key I use to perform functions related to the "financial" aspect of steemit. I'd like to use a different word than "financial" but I also can't think of a better one. I use this to buy STEEM with earned SBD. I then use this to Power-up my STEEM into SP.

Private Posting Key is the most basic key, used to login to steemit.com and perform daily tasks such as posting and commenting.

Private Memo Key is the key used "to decrypt private transfer memos." Up to this point in my steemit journey, I have not used this key.

Private Owner Key is used to reset all the other keys if the account is compromised. Thankfully I have not had to use this key either.

Question 3:

How do you store your Master Password?

I keep my Master Password safely stored in multiple written locations, including notebooks and in folders.

Question 4:

Do you know how to transfer your STEEM token to another account?

I have never done this before, but I see there is a place on the Ecosynthesizer website where this task should be easy to perform.

Question 5:

Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

I constantly power up my STEEM, usually right after I claim rewards. So far I haven't saved any STEEM or SBD. I do all my powering up through the SteemWorld website.

thank u so much @steemingcurators for up-voting this post

I have withdrawn 100% of my delegation to both parties, but not of Malice or Spite toward either (reference @kgakakillerg )

as I'm sure all you experienced users are aware, this is a 'pending process' that takes about a week to resolve

I will re-delegate appropriately in about a month's time

best wishes to all of you~

Hello @william8wayward.

My apologies to you for not responding to your article you posted 28 days ago. That was just a mistake. I did not intend to ignore your request for an idea on how to go about that particular task.

This happens normally when you find so many notifications on your account and as you keep checking and trying to attend to all of them, you skip one abruptly not that you intended to do so.

You have done well in this article. You can proceed to another achievement task -3. I or any of my colleagues are going to up-vote this article using Steemcurator03 since it has already been verified.

Hi @yohan2on

Thank you for getting back to me like this. When I consider your words, I think I understand. I do not know what all your responsibilities are here on steemit, but I imagine they must be a lot. And everyone makes mistakes sometimes.

I'm sorry that I came at you the way I did. I do now apologize.

You see, the fire burns hot inside me. And sometimes more than others. Also, it might also be true that I take offense too easily. I hope you will forgive me.

It is very nice to meet you at greater length. It is my sincere hope that with our next encounter there will be no ill-feelings.

For my part, I hold no bad blood against you.

Thank you also for verifying me for step 2. I will begin work on step 3 soonish.

Have a good day~

Thanks so much for your kind words and for being very understanding.

I wish you all the best.
