Hello, Steemians!!
I am Ernest FRIMPONG with username @vigimahn and I am here now to share with you guys the knowledge I have acquired on the BASIC SECURITY on STEEM and my understanding of the use of STEEM Wallet.

Steemit block chain gives out a set of Public and Private key pairs to their users accounts that are used for authentication as well as the encryption and decryption of data. The keys are a combination of alphabets and numbers.

STEEMIT PUBLIC KEYS
The Public keys are associated with usernames and are used to encrypt and verify messages. Public keys are not required for login.

STEEMIT PRIVATE KEYS
✓Posting Key
This key is used to log in to your Steemit account and perform social actions such as posting, voting and commenting.

✓Memo Key
This key is used to decrypt Private transfer memos.

✓Active Key
This key is used for monetary and wallet related actions such as transferring tokens or powering up and down STEEM. One can transfer money from your wallet if he/she get access to this key.

✓Owner Key
This key is used to reset all your other keys. Any key is more likely to get compromised the more it is used so Steemit uses a hierarchical key system to keep us safe. This key is used to recover compromised account within 30 days.

✓Master Password
The master key is very important, with it you can acquire all other keys. Since one cannot recover lost key, it is very important not to late anyone get access to your keys especially with the master password.

HOW TO TRANSFER TOKEN TO ANOTHER STEEM USER ACCOUNT

1. Log into your Steem account.
2. Go to Wallet.
3. Click on the down-pointed arrow under Steemit dollars
4. Click on transfer from the drop down menu

HOW TO POWER UP STEEM

1. Log in to your account
2. Click on wallet
3. Choose Steem and click on power up from the drop down menu
4. Enter the amount and click on power up button.
